I just recently purchased a moonroof visor for my 06 MDX from Tim. I followed the instructions that came with the visor. However, I attempted to install it yesterday but I couldn't. It seemed to me that the two screws that came with the visor were too short that the hook thing couldnt hook the lip of the roof. Is there any trick to installing this piece? Can it be done by anyone or only dealer or car shop? Any help is appreciated Thanks.

I can't recall any problems installing mine. Heck, I have removed it a few times in order to clean and wax underneath. |

Do realize that you need to compress the rubber seal down against the surface of the vehicle during the installation by applying downward pressure. You should not have any troubles at all once you do that.

Thanks for the responses. I did press it down. I actually got my brother to help me press it down while I tighten the screw but the screw was about 1/4 of an inch too short.

I just took a look at the installation guide attached with the visor. It says 2003 MDX. Is that the reason why it won't fit my 2006 MDX? Some people on this forum have had success installing the visor without any problem but the screws that came in the box with the visor is about 1/4 inch too short. I think I'm gonna go pick up some longer screws to try if they'll work.

I don't see any difference between the years. I think you may not be getting the clips on the lip properly. No one else has ever complained about the screws being too short. Check your installation instructions again. I wouldn't try longer screws. I'd make sure you're on the lip with the clip!

When I installed my visor, I put on the screw first on both ends and press down gently until the hanger clip below, tighten it a little. Did the opposite side, tighten it up a little until the visor is all align correctly. Finally, tighten both screws while your pressing down gently. Honestly, it took me 25 minutes on the first install because I had the same problem your experiencing when I first installed it. After that its simple.
