| Warning lights - BRAKE and LOW OIL PRESSURE/CHARGING SYSTEM

Yesterday while I was going to work, I was exiting the highway on a circular off-ramp, so braking and cornering, and for a second the BRAKE warning light on the dash came on. At the same time, CHARGING SYSTEM came on. Both went off quickly. The lights did not come on again, the brakes felt fine and the oil level was normal when I checked a minute later. I got my oil changed and a checkup about 1000 miles ago.
I will probably end up taking it in to get checked, but the dealer is some distance away, so I thought I'd ask if anyone had any thoughts. How could these two lights be related? Will this have created an error code that can be read? Any insights would be appreciated.
Edited to fix title. |

The brake warning indicator will come on if there is an electrical problem: the antilocks don't work with low voltage. If the "other light" was the charging warning light, you may have had a temporary voltage drop.
This could have happened if the engine bumbled (or nearly stalled) when you took your foot of the gas at the exit. If it happens again, or if you feel rough running, take it to the dealer. Things like the EGR could make the engine bumble. |

| No problems since the original post, but I went on the same ramp a couple days ago and got the same two lights - charging system and brakes. They only stayed on for about a second and I didn't notice any difference in the engine note or tach. The ramp is a right-hand U off the highway and turning 180 degrees around. I just think it's very odd that the only time I've ever seen this is this one ramp, yet it can be reproduced. |
