Barry H,
I have a 2002 MDX and have experienced similar problems with excessive fan motor noise coming from the glove compartment area on the high A/C settings.
The dealer said it was pine tar, pine needles, and other leaves stuck in the line and/or fan motor itself that causes it to overspin/overwork itself. Problem is a) I garage park my MDX b) I never park it anywhere near pine trees (I don't have any pine trees at home or work) c) I asked them to show me the pine tar/leaves, and debris and they "forgot to keep it to show me" at the dealer. After they supposedly cleaned it out, the noise went away for about a week, now it is back. Others in the know tell me that the motor is either bad or has a bad bushing/bearing (not sure which it has) that is making it spin out of balance and therefore overwork itself, making excessive noise that you hear. I'm taking it back this week to push to have motor replaced, hopefully under my 7-year, 100k bumper to bumper warranty.
