| Planning to set up a 5.1 system in the great room, which has cathedral ceilings, so I was wondering whether anybody here has any experience with the Orb speakers. I'm not (yet) going into a high end setup, but definitely not an HTIB. |

| Check www.avsforum.com for a wealth of information. I was looking into getting those when I was debating upgrading my sound system, but decided to hold off for now. |

I've personally never subscribed to the idea that a single driver can be made to reproduce the entire audio spectrum. Depending on your room treatments, with a cathedral ceiling doing 5 channels can create a situation where the audio ends up bouncing everywhere and being time delayed as it hits around the room.
I usually recommend Paradigm Atoms or Titans in the rear (or front), but that's me :) |

Thanks for the input. Yes, I realize that small speakers are not the ideal setup for a big room. But until I can set up a dedicated HT, I'll have to compromise.
A lot of posters on many HT forums, including the one cycler mentioned, highly recommend the orbs in terms of cost effectiveness, even over Paradigms. Apparently, they're similar to Gallos, which is not surprising since I heard that one of the founders came from Gallo. |
