Long term Storage versus Selling - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am in bit a dilemma with my wife's 2005 Sage brush green MDX touring NAV with 9000 miles. We are getting posted to Europe for a two year assignment. Two choices:
Sell the car and take the loss
Put it in long-term storage -where they disconnect the battery and drain all the fluids?
BTW, My wife loves this car and requires me to buy her a brand one in case we sell it? Personally, I really don't want to get into the new car depreciation again.
Does any one out there have any experience with long term storage for MDX? Or any other suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Find a really good friend who will garage it and drive it once a week or so? It better be someone who is really anal about their cars/possessions so you know it'll still be more or less the same when you get back.

Or take it to Europe. I'll rent you space in my garage really cheap!

Sitting for two years is really not good for any engine. If you can follow Sinicure's suggestion that would solve that problem.

However, you are going to take a big hit on depreciation and have a 3 or 4 year old vehicle when you get back. Plus, if you decide you like the assignment you might want to extend and you would have the vehicle sitting in storage back in the states. Or upon termination of that station you may want to take a consecutive overseas assignment.

Does not the Army still ship POV's? A two year tour seems short so maybe they do not on that length tour.

Personally, I would either take the MDX with me or get rid of it.
