That's about what I paid from my local Honda dealership as well. That stuff is not cheap. |

It seems most folks on this site stick with the Z-1, but in Hawaii, it's even more expensive. Valvoline Dexron V states that it can replace Z-1 and is much less expensive. I've used it in my '03 with no apparent ill effects. Since it's cheaper, I'll can change the fluid more often.
I'm a strong believer in clean, fresh tranny fluid. I had a Mustang with the infamous AODE tranny. All of the people I knew with the same tranny and just followed the recommended maintence of every 30K miles had their trannys replaced at least once. BY changing fluid more than twice as often, mine went over 142K of hard driving without failure.
Is the Valvoline "not as good"? I really doubt such a large and reputable corporation would open themselves up to litigation like that, especially considering the large market of Hondas and Acuras. |

Where did you see that Valvoline claims it can replace Z1? There's a letter floating around that I have seen....is that what you are talking about?
Btw, it's Mercon V, not Dexron V. |

Sorry, couldn't remember if it was Dexron or Mercon.
Bought it at Checker Auto Parts and it says so right on the back label.
I'm also saving one of the labels just to be safe. |
