Hey all, need a little help.
I have a 2003 MDX with ~28K miles on it. Battery dies last evening and the truck has been shuddering when braking (warped rotors) So, I call up my local dealer and get the car in for battery and brake check along with the 30K mile service.
They replace the battery on a prorated basis, sounds good....
They did the 30K mile brake check and yes, rotors warped, and they were too thin to machine so they reportedly check with the area service manager or whom ever and they get the OK to replace the rotors under warranty! Yea!!!!.....
BUT....they did not replace the brake pads, on my receipt (I picked it up after service closed) says the fronts have 40% remaining and the rears have %50 left.
I was under the impression that if you replace rotors, you should replace the pads since the old pads would be grooved by the old rotors and rewarp or reshape the newe rotors due to the uneven wear of the pad....
I ended up bringing the truck back to the dealer because my wife noticed a vibration in the steering wheel that started at 60 mph and increased with increasing speed as soon as we got on the highway, which was NOT present prior to the service. SO, we went straight back to the dealer and picked up the loaner car again and dropped ours off to be looked at again in the AM....
SO, should the dealer have replaced my pads too?
Sorry for the long winded story.

| Yes, the pads should also be replaced. I had mine serviced for the famous brake clanking issue. The dealer resurfaced the rotors and replaced the front pads. |

Thanks,
The dealer ended up replacing them under warrenty after I brought the MDX back because one of the wheels was out of balance after they rotated the wheels.
They initially were going to make me pay for the pads only because they were "fine" but they finally gave in and covered them under warrenty. |
