| Guys, my '03 does not have a nav system so I recently had the Avic D-2 along with 2 headrest monitors for about 2 weeks. Now the nav system is acting up. For some reason the GPS would not locate the vehicle anymore. I took out the DVD nav disk and noticed that it was an "East" disk even though I live in the west coast but it has been working fine for 2 weeks. I will need to bring it back to the shop to find out the reason but would like to know if anyone in this forum has the same unit as mine and experiences the same problem. |

Hi!
I'm sorry that you are having problems with your unit...
I hope that you've already came up with the solution...
But, I'm considering the D2 and wondering how it would look in the dash...did you have to lose the trip computer....which is fine with me...if there is a solution for the AC control....
But, I'm really curious how it looks... |

BlackDevil,
I decided to retain the trip display unit because it's too complicated to remove it from the dash without affecting the ac control.
My wife drives it to work this morning so I'll post some photos later on tonight. It actually looks very clean if you remove the Bose head unit. |

Cool! Thank you so much!
One quick question though...AVIC D2 is a double din receiver...
Were you able to find the double din dash kit? Or do I have to get a single din dashkit then modify?
If you were able to find the Double DIN dash kit...could you tell me where you found it from?
Again, I really appreciate you help on this topic! |

Can you post some pictures?
I really want to see it.
What kit did you use with D2? |

somewhere in the near future (maybe around Christmas) I plan on ditching that trip computer and putting in a Z1. Going to buy an extra faceplate so I can return it to factory original when I sell it, and have the one faceplate modified to fit the Z1. Could care less about seeing the fan lavel, ac on/off and such. Don't need the trip computer either. The HVAC buttons will still work. They just won't be displayed. Then adding BT, Sirius, Backup will be a breeze. The Pioneer Nav has it all over the factory nav. Is HD based and as a partition in the HD to load MP3's so I can leave the MP3 player at home too. Nice clean install with nothing else sitting around the center console.
Would be interested in seeing his D2 setup. |

my d3 should be here tomorro and i can start my install, with a custom made double din.
not sure if the d2 has any internal memory but on the d3 you can load the memory in from the dvd and it keeps it loaded on the hd until you go into area that isnt in memory. this may have happened with your d2. since you had wrong disk in and it lost memory of the west siiiide ahah.. |
