Was wondering how much of a difference there is between the 2003 & 2006 shop manual.

After trading the 03' X for an 06', I was thinking of getting the manual for this years model.

I have the 2003 MDX shop manual and was going to order the 2006 shop manual, but when I went to Helmsinc to order, they seem to be the same.

I entered 2006 and what comes up is 2003-2006. After seeing this, I am thinking there is minimal changes that I could just use my old 2003 shop manual for most things.

Thoughts? Does the 2006 manual have 2003-2006 on the cover?

Thanks

I have the '03-'04 Service manual for my '04. There are several instances where it will say do this if it's an '03, do that if it's an '04. I think your best bet would be to ask SuperTech. He uses them all the time. If he doesn't see this post in the next day or two you might try to PM him.

Of course there's a difference. But not big enough to have a totally different manual like 2001-02 vs. 2003 since engine, transimmsion, and emissions are pretty big chunk of the book. The new manual will cover 2003-06. There will be stuff like added sections to cover newer features like OnStar and XM. Other sections may have just an addtional page or two when show proceedures/illustrations when there are differences between model years. Such as 2003 gauges on one page and 2004-06 gauges on the next.

Actually, I hardly ever use the manuals. I either know how to do the procedure already or if I don't I can read any service manual, owners manual, service bulletin...anything off the American Honda interactive network site.

As long as you don't need to know about the stereo, which is different in the 03, 04 and 05-06.
Or the Tire Pressure Monitor System, which the 03 doesn't have.
Or the headlights, which changed in 04.
Or the engine mount control system (different in 03 than 04-06)
Or the cylinder head/ fuel feed.
Or the Evaporative Emission Control .
Or the PCM circuits
Or the Fuel Supply system
Or the Air Bags
Or the VSA.
Or that little sign that says "Danger- SRS components in this area".
Let's face, most of us don't need the Service Manual. We buy it because we're curious and want to be enlightened. But if you either need to use it because of self-maintenance, or you want to claim to be enlightened, you should get the new Service Manual for an 06.
