This makes the Acura MusicLink look like a stone age design - which maybe it really is. :o

Click on the New iPod Announcement and then Watch Video. Slick! They have everything and possibly more than we have been asking for. Oh well. :3: |

| if I'm reading the BMW site correctly it seems as though this new wonderful IPod system will NOT work if you have a 6 disk changer and/or a sirius radio system installed...... how many gadget nuts out there who are gonna love this new IPod hook-up won't have a 6 disk changer or sirius already in their car ???? Not many !! |

The whole idea of the iPod hookup is that it emulates a 6 disc CD changer - Press CD1 for this, Cd2 for that, etc.
What you get is the full control of the iPod AND this includes the read out of ARTIST and SONG TITLE on the Nav screen if you have one and on the radio if you don't. Kinda like the Acura XM radio using the "Audio Screen" feature.
With the BMW setup, you can search by Title, by Artist, by Album, etc. In effect, it is almost like you have itunes installed in the car. :4: And have the up/down and volume on the steering wheel. |

I can see your point about the Ipod replacing the 6 disk changer but I, personally speaking, am a BIG Sat raido fan..... and I would not give up my XM radio in the MDX for a good Ipod hook up.... there's gotta be a way they can have both ... IPods are great but it can't replace live talk radio.. politics. sports, etc.....
on long trips.. you can only take so much music.... I have an '07 MDX on order and I can't wait to have a built in XM sytstem... I have a Jeep now with a XM Roadie hook-up and thats about all I listen to in the car |

highflyer,
I have completely missed where you think you have to give up satellite radio (whomevers) to have the ipod features. Everything you had, you still have, it is just that the BMW/Apple version has Song, Artists, title, sort by whatever, etc.. MusicLink is at best a workaround cable connection. |
