MDX? I know for the first few months people will probably have to pay MSRP for it. Or it will all depend on how well the car sells?

The early reviews so far have been greatly positive. Perhaps negotiating invoice price might start in the 2nd quarter of next year, 2007. But, you will never know how it will turn out.

My guess would be the late summer/fall of 2007 for decent discounts on the 2007 as they head into 2008.

It could be sooner depending, of course, on sales.

Well.......we are a store that sells about 80 new Acura's a month. We are getting 29 MDX's..various models of course....between Oct 17th and November 15th. We currently have 6 Deposits on a vehicle nobody has really even seen or driven in great exposure..definitely not driven.

In my opinion, once these hit the lots and people start driving them, they are going to FLY of the lots and deposits will start dropping FAST for incoming units.

However.....between Nov 15th and December 15th, we are getting 39!!!! That is a lot of MDX's.

With all that in mind, I would not be surprised to see discounts begin..nothing big...$500-$1000...by January...possibly December. Depends on how much the supply keeps coming. If it continues to come in the volumes of the first two shipments, then supply is going to meet the demand and trying to get MSRP when they are easily found..well..you all know how that works.

If they are not discounting by January, then they probably won't until 2008 IMO. Either this rig is going to take off like a rocket, or it is just going to be a good seller.

You won't, most likely, see prices near invoice for at least a year. Acura Dealers have been waiting for a car that we can hold gross on again for a long time, and they are going to hold gross on this one as long as humanly possible.

Grosses will hold stronger in the West Coast longer than the East...different buying habits and reasons.

These are all just opinions, but the initial quantities coming in, lead me to believe that if you have the ability to remain patient, Spring, early Summer would be the best time to still get it "quick", but not pay for "all" of the initial hype. Only you can decide the importance of money and desires!!! :D

IMHO---- this is going to be simular to the 1st gen MDX . I remember the 01 MDX being sold for several thousand over sticker especially on the west coast. here on the East Coast things will be priced a little differently. They will be sold mainly at sticker with an adendem. basically Accessories will be added to increase profit but at the same time its not a dig such as $ over sticker then over priced acc.
Our Alocation here in Miami is on track to not have anything on the lot for sale due to pre- order. As of now if you want an MDX you will have to put in an order and wait . The 1st gen MDX had up to a 4-6 month wait . depending on color and style. as of now we cna have an MDX ready for delivery in November.

Please contact me if your interested in any information on the incoming vehicles.

GOOD LUCK , I hope its everything your looking for.
Im sure it will be.

The first generation MDX filled a void that many many people were looking and waiting for. It was Honda's/Acura's first SUV of their own that was not an isuzu trooper/rodeo. It was also the first SUV of its size with three rows of seats.

Unfortunately, there is a LOT more in the market for the MDX to compete with thistime around.

All that being said, I am of the belief, that after driving it, the Lexus, Cayenne and the Mercedes, that Acura took something from all of them and I really can't see why anyone would not buy it over the others if they are buying an SUV and not the prestige of a nameplate.

The Cayenne handles better than the MDX, but the MDX has better power..especially off the line unless you get into the 70K + Porches. but the fit and finish of the MDX gives you much better "luxury" and Creature comforts, plus, it handles on a level to the Porsche that the majority of everyday drivers would never be able to even notice the difference.

The Lexus handles like CRAP compared to the MDX unless you really like soft mushy rides. the MDX interior looks more "fresh" than the lexus, is a comfortable ride, and still gets the performance the LExus lacks...not to mention the third row again.

The Mercedes is nice, the DVD location is lame, and quite frankl;y, I simply do not trust Mercedes ever since Chrysler took them over. this was actually the only one that I would consider to buy instead of the MDX if I did not have such firm beliefs that the quality level on MB has plummeted since the take over..plus, I never trust German Cars.

And of course, it is STILL the only one with three rows in the vehicles it is directly being compared with.

All that being said...the New X5 is going to impact these new MDX sales. I have not heard much about it, but you know BMW is going to put out one hell of a unit!!!

So the moral of the post from above, is when you have the competition level where it is at, there is no way, IMHO, that you will have the 1st Gen MDX situation happening again. You are going to get initial hype on the early releases that should carry through the end of the year....but it will be discounted by Spring. IMHO. With the exception of any "Special Combos" that are only allowed to be ordered in limited quantity.....

AND EVERYONE>>>>>>>>THE ARBERDEEN GREEN METALLIC LOOKS NOTHING AT ALL LIKE IT DOES IN THE BROCHURE!!!!! I WOULD EVEN BE SO BOLD AS TO SAY IT WILL BE THE MOST POPULAR COLOR!!! WHY THEY USED THE LIGHTING THEY DID.....THEY MADE IT LOOK LIKE AN APPLE!!!!! IT ACTUALY LOOKS LIKE A LIGHTER SHADE OF SAGE. I imagine you have done your Ride and Drive Miamidave....do you back me up on this?
davemiamiacura
we are the last to get the ride and drive . I was up In NY and we had early Rides . Now im in Miami and we are last , As a matter of fact. we will have our 1st look at the Miami Auto show. then I will have my ride and drive 1 week later... its bothersome but we will get through it.

I have to agree also from what I have seen with pre orders , that the hype is different between the 1st and 2nd.

I do have great anticipation because of the redesign. I think its hot. The colors are very likable.

We did get some Pics from a earlier auto event that the MDX was presented . the color you talk of i agree will be a big seller.

we as a matter of fact filled an order on our our last alocated MDX for Nov. today...... We are out. But as you say , it will tail off sooner than the 1st gen im sure.

keep me in the loop

Well below MSRP by January, that's my prediction. After the short run of early adopters get theirs (mostly current MDX owners), the MDX will be out there with literally dozens of decent new midsize crossovers including several from GM (Saturn, GMC, Buick), Ford, Lincoln, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc. Not to mention some great sports wagons with 4wd--Audi, VW, Subaru, Mercedes, BMW. It will be a VERY competitive market with more product than buyers. Plus Acura has no buzz--no mileage leaders or hi-tech engines, lots of grumbling about the RDX (noisy 4 banger, poor mileage), TL and RL are getting old, no sports car.

The 07 MDX seems like a fine vehicle--I'll be lusting for one soon. But there are lots of other great products out there, and Acura dealers will have to be realistic to make sales. It also means resale value on our older MDXs will probably fall a bit farther.
