I purchased a Xenon Depot HID kit a couple of years ago and have been very happy with it. Recently the lights would not always turn on, sometimes only one started , sometimes neither. Troubleshooting revealed two problems.
1. The fuse holder had significant corrosion and the fuse contacts were badly corroded (came apart when I pulled the fuse.)
2. I then found that the relay connector had severe corrosion on one contact. The one connector came apart when I pulled the connector assembly off the relay.
I replaced the fuse holder and installed a new connector in the relay connector.
The root cause appears to have been that neither of these connectors was a sealed weather proof type and allowed water entry.
This time I used dielectric grease to protect the connector and fuse. |
