Someone finally hacked the OK button in the Navi - Click HERE for Original Thread

Well, they did it in a TL running the 3.5 software. I have the same software and tried it in the MDX - no go.

Thread (Page 6 is where it gets good): http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/show...25&page=6&pp=25

Web page: http://www.vistabug.com/navi/

I've already emailed him to see what would interest him to do this for the MDX.

Thanks, keeps us posted!

This is it! IT WORKS! Sticky this or something, it actually works!

Ok, here's the deal. It works on the 3.50 version of the navigation for sure in my 2004 MDX. Other people can attempt at your own risk. See my first post for the original thread and website for more info, and I highly recommend you donate some money to AngryDad via his website link/Paypal.

1. Start your navigation with the nav cd in place. Enter the diag menu - at the main screen of the navigation system, hold down the Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel buttons for 5 seconds.

2. Hit the "Version" button on the touch screen.

3. Hold down the Menu button for 5 seconds.

4. Write down the filename next to the words "Loading Filename" (ex. BN2HH110.bin).

5. Grab the DVD out of the navi unit.

6. Put the DVD in your PC and copy all of the .BIN files to a directory.

7. Download CEBIN and extract it to a directory.

8. Edit the ExtarctAll.cebin file included in the CEBIN zip file. Edit the line that shows: image %NAVI_HOME%\BN2HN18B.BIN and replace with image c:\dircreatedinstep6\BNHH401A.BIN. Enter that line EXACTLY, do not substitute your .BIN file written down in step 4 here.

9. Drop to dos and run CEBIN EXTARCTALL.CEBIN (Point to the right directories and such.)

10. Download AngryDad's hack - Hack

11. Run AngryDad hack and point it to the files subdirectory that was created from the CEBIN extraction in step 9. It's looking for the NAVI.EXE file.

12. Now create a new text file in the CEBIN directory - name it REMOVEOK.CEBIN or whatever. Enter the following in the TEXT file -

**This is my file below - edit yours to reflect your .BIN file written down in step 4. Make sure the savetofile line has a .NEW extension.
image c:\dircreatedinstep6\BN2HH110.bin
verbose on
replaceFile navi.exe C:\dircreatedinstep6\cebin\Files\navi.exe
saveToFile c:\dircreatedinstep6\BN2HH110.new

13. Rename your existing bin file from step 4 to .OLD and rename the .NEW to .BIN.

14. Burn a CD with ALL of the BIN files, including the new .BIN we just created (My file size was off from the original but worked fine.)

15. Insert the original navigation DVD back into the DVD-ROM in your car.

16. Start the car normally, and at the main navigation screen hold Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel for 5 seconds once again.

17. Hit the "Version" button on the touch screen once again.

18. Take the origional navigation DVD out of the car, and replace it with the CD/DVD you just created - don't close the door of the navi unit.

19. Hit the "Load Disc" button on the Version screen.

20. It should take about 20 seconds for your car to load the new BIN and reboot. Once that happens, take out your burned CD/DVD and put back the origional navigation DVD.

21. If anything goes wrong, remove the ground to the battery for 30 seconds with the origional DVD in the car. The old OS will load back on the system.

*I copied some of these directions from other posters, if you don't mind. . . I did these directions from memory, so let me know if something's off.

Good luck and enjoy!

Supposed to remove the need to hit the OK button to acknowledge the Navi disclaimer every time you start the vehicle.

I was wondering the same thing. As 'shootist' posted - I will wait until I see it works for someone else. I don't want to be the guinea pig! It's not that big of a deal to press 'ok' to me. The bigger deal is waiting until the system boots up so I can get the A/C fan on high!!

Amazing. Months ago, everyone was waiting with baited breath for this! Oh well. . . I've had it running on my '04 MDX for about a week now and it's works great.

Even if you mess something up, you just put the factory disk in and re-read it.

Do you have any suggestions on how I should handle this hack when I have a 2003 model that doesn't have the BNHH401A.bin file referenced below. In fact, the only BIN files I have are:
ADD.BIN
BN2HH12C.BIN
BN2HH110.BIN
BN2HH120.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN
BN2HN12B.BIN
BN2HN18B.BIN
zzz10.BIN
zzz100.BIN

As you'll see, I have the same start up file (BN2HH110.bin), but I'm limited in what I do because I have to choose the correct BIN file from those above to put into step 8.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I assume you're NOT running the 3.5 disc then. The only suggestion I can give you is to get a copy of the navi.exe from someone and try putting it into the appropriate bin file and see if it works.

This hack REALLY intrigues me. However, all of my computers are Macs and I have yet to jump up to an Intel version where I can run WinDoze on it.

Any suggestions on how to complete the steps of this hack on Mac OS X 10.4.7.8 (besides buying a Del, HP, etc.)? There is a great Mac startup screen image (BMP file) someone developed that leads me to believe doing the hack work via a Mac might be possible. Here is where I found it:

I believe these are just Photoshopped images for use as bmp files once you've hacked the NAV. They may not necessarily have been developed on a Mac.

dipersp,,

Got the hack running now and I appreciate your posts. I wonder, however, how hard it would be to change the navi.exe file so that the navi does as follows:

1) comes on as normal
2) skips the OK screen
3) shuts down screen if not used.

Right now, the navi.exe hack does 1 and 2, but then keeps the screen on, always.

What do you think?

ok, I am so lost. I don't get the DOS part. Can someone walk me through that. I am trying to do this on an '04 MDX running disc version3.60.

I have already copied my bin files, downloaded Dumpnavi and the patch. All I want to do is remove the nag "ok" button. It would also be nice if we could do away with the annoying 10 second audio disclaimer after calculating the route.

They changed the file structure on the 07, as far as I can tell... I made an iso of the disc so I could play with it, and I can't seem to find anything close to what was on the old versions, and I don't have the time to figure it out on my own :(

Err, I can't even get past step 4 because there is nothing on my screen that says "Loading Filename" ...I have an 2005.

There has to be some programmers that are MDX owners. I would be willing to donate for someones time to remove the OK button. Anyone out there?

BTW... I have version 4.56A

I'm also interested in hooking up an mac mini using the nav screen as an enternal video output source of either VGA/DVI or S-Video/RCA. Any one found the video wires for the nav?

Damn you lion! I thought someone had done it, then I get in here and you are just asking if it has happened...

Ask and ye shall receive:

I have had this item for a year now. Briefly connected it for testing and it works as good as can be expected. Obviously, the screens in the MDX's are not high resolution as one might hope. Never permanently connected it because I have been right on the verge of upgrading to an '07/'08 MDX. Anyhow, yes, there is an option and yes, I am a Mac guy.

So, it's still a NO go for the '07/'08 MDX screen hacked. For now I guess I can still use the RES for mac mini hook-up.

Can someone please please hack the NAV screen on 07/08 already.

P.S. BTW, 25 yrs of mac user here, too. ;)

As a software developer, I certainly would take a crack at it... but I don't have an MDX yet (sigh..)

I have my sights set on getting one next year so till then I remain envious of all of you!! :)

Welcome. Can't wait for you to get your MDX next year & crack that annoying disclaimer. Since you'll be doing some hacking, might as well crack the nav screen (video/dvi input) so we can put a mac mini in already. :D

I've been curious but how exactly does the nav system look like? I know it's under the seat but it is in some kind of chassis and does it have external/internal ports?
