We got ours for $36,200. Touring with Nav. Out the door price of $39,500 more or less a couple hundred bucks. We got 6.59% @60mos. Purchased the extended warranty (84mos/100000) for $1500. And put a down payment of $11,500. Monthly payment is $578.
What do you think? We're satisfied but i'd like to hear from the pros what we did wrong and what we did right.
Thanks!! |

| Under $40K including the extended warranty? That's a pretty good deal. I have owned Hondas/Acuras/Toyotas/Lexus in the past and can't find it feasible to go for the extended warranty. Did I make the mistake of not buying the warranty? The dealer tried really hard for me to purchase one but after seeing how the numbers didn't work out, I decided to not go for it. |

Just my $.02.
I would not buy the extended warranty.
1) You may decide to trade it in prior to the end of the factory warranty.
2) Your car may be so trouble free that at the end of the warranty period you may decide to keep it and take your chances.
3) During the warranty period you may have so many problems (i.e. you bought the "lemon" or "Friday build car") that you can not wait to get rid of it!
4) Towards the end of the warranty, if you decide to keep the car, you can always buy the extended warranty.
5) If you wait, you will know for sure that the company issuing the warranty is still in business!

Your warranty is at a good price and Acura Care is not going anywhere.
Warranties are insurance..no doubt. If you are sure you are going to keep it, they are worth it. I only say this cause I see it everyday. Our shop has lots of appointments on "broken" cars and these warranties do get used. The way the warranty companies make money is the people that buy them and trade in before they get to the warranty time, or cars that are in accidents and totalled. They usually lose money on the people that keep them for full term.
So if your plans are for long term ownership, you made a wise decision IMO...but as JeffK said, if you did indeed trdae out early, then they are a waste of money.
You made a good dealmy friend....I have no pointers to give you. he price you paid is as low as most are going in this area now, so you did good...ESPECIALLY if you did indeed get your Sage/Ebony combo....very few of those left!!!!

| Ditto, JeffK - point #5. I bought an extended warranty for my Montero - was paying about $200 per month for 4 months when the company went belly up! It had been in business for 5 years though. I got lucky that I did not pay the whole sum. And... I now have 95K miles on my Mitsu Montero and no problems so far (knocking on wood)! 100K warranty would have been waste of $$$ anyway! |

50% of the public believes in warranties...and 50% doesn't. You have the same gamble buying a warranty and not ever using it as you do not buying it, and wishing you would have. The piece of mind that the warranty simply provides, is you are guaranteed a cieling for the cost of repairs.
As far as the companies going belly up, thatis the EXACT reason why I only recommend buying the MANUIFACTURER"S Service Contract...no aftermarket companies. And if it si silly cheap, then you can pretty much guarantee yourself of two things...1-they will probably go belly up, and 2-they won't cover diddly squit.
I believe in these things mainly for the simple stuff....CD Changer jams----$800 for a new one. Power WIndow motor goes out, $300. etc etc etc. i don't believe in them for big stuff. Sure....you lose something MAJOR, you are tap dancing through the Service Department that you have it, but it is the little stuff that pays....and it is going to happen post 70,000 miles most likely...and if you talk to most...stress the word, most......people that say they never have car problems and they are a waste of money, they never keep their cars past this mileage mark....AND THEY SHOULD NOT BUY THEM IF THAT IS THEIR BUYING HABITS.
I am in the business, as you all know, I buy them for vehicles I do not lease. My Ridgeline is going to be bought by me, as I have suddenly hitan average of 30,000 miles per year...happens when your girlfrined lives 45 miles away....so I am going to buy the warranty. Unfortunately, I will now only be able to buy one with a $100 deductable and the coverage will not be as complete as it would have been if I would have bought it when I got the car or before 6000 miles, but I would rather have that than nothing. |
