18" RDX wheels on my 02 MDX - Click HERE for Original Thread

I'm considering buying a set of take-off 18" RDX wheels for use on my MDX. The tires are Michelin Pilot MXV4s 235/55VR18's.

I think these will fit, but would like a confirmation from anybody with knowledge.

I'll then use my stock 17" rims for snows.

Do you know what the bolt number and pattern is on the RDX wheels? The stock MDX wheel has 5 bolts. The spacing might also be different. The width and diameter mean nothing if you can't bolt it on.

Are they not standard in diameter, except the only thing you have to worry about if its 4 or 5 bolts

Unless there is a different in diameter between a vehicle and a truck.

The OEM wheel for the '01-06 MDX is 17 x 6.5 +45 offset with 5 lug 114.3mm (4.5") spacing. The correct OEM wheel diameter is 29", so the 235/55/18 is a lil' smaller than stock - correct tire size is 255/55/18. I'd double check the bolt spacing & offset on the Rdx wheel just to be sure . . .

Another member just put the 19" RDX wheels on his car (see the thread about "Wifes grocery getter")....so the bolt pattern should not be an issue.

However the overall diameter is smaller with the 235/55/18 tires that they put on the RDX standard. Not a huge issue, but it will make your speedometer 2.9% off. See ratings below.

Specification, Sidewall, Radius, Diameter, Circumference, Revs/Mile, Difference
235/65-17, 6.0in, 14.5in, 29.0in, 91.2in, 695, 0.0%
235/55-18, 5.1in, 14.1in, 28.2in, 88.5in, 716, -2.9%

so while I think the rims are not an issue....to get back to factory specs, I agree with socal JD that you would want to go back with 255/55-18 on the car for the mfg recommeded fit on the MDX

The bolt hole pattern is the same. I'm not sure about the offset.

The diameter difference is about .8 inches. That would make the car run a tad higher in RPMs, and the speedometer show a bit higher.

The rims already have 235/55/18 tires on them, and the tires are brand new, so I wouldn't want to switch to 255's soon.

My main concern is offset, but if 19" RDX wheels fit an MDX, then I'd guess the 18s would also ..

I have the 19's with 255/50/19 tires. My brother bought my 2001 MDX and picked up the same 18" rims & 235/55/18 tire set you are probably looking at. He loves them.

the TL, CL, MDX, and RDX have the same bolt pattern, 5x114.3
the RL has 5x120
not sure about the tsx or the rsx
