Hey Gang,
Of course it is after hours so no response from Tirerack, so I'll ask the question here.
Does Tirerack ship to Canada?
Thanks. |

I think TireRack in Canada is called 1010tires:

From TireRack.com:
quote:
Most of our customers are within one to two business days of our Indiana, Nevada, Delaware, Louisiana, or Georgia warehouses for timely, cost-effective delivery of purchases.
Freight options and shipping charges can be seen after you’ve added an item to your cart and entered your ZIP code when prompted. (Note: You can remove the item from your cart at any time and cancel the order.)
Canadian Customers: UPS will collect additional taxes, duty and customs brokerage charges prior to delivery. Please contact your local UPS office for estimates of these charges.
Delivery may be delayed by customs procedures.
I think that answers the question, now you have to determine if its cheaper to order from the Canadian web site mentioned above.
One cool thing on the TireRack web site is the "view on vehicle" button. It has an image of an MDX and shows you the wheels on that car. :2: |

Thanks Sinecure,
I will have to contact UPS to learn more about duties.
Here are some prices I have gotten from Tirerack and 1010tires (the canadian discount website).
For a set of 4 wheels and 4 Blizzak DM-Z3 tires (in US$)
Tirerack: $856, shipping, duties, taxes ?
1010tires: $1495, shipping about $20 (they have a deal on for us Canadians), taxes 6%, no duty.
That is a price difference of over $600. So I now need to determine what the shipping/duty/charges from UPS and Tirerack to see what that total may be.
For comparison purposes, I can locally purchase 4 Blizzak tires installed on my existing wheels for around US$1000 all in.
So you can see the price from Tirerack is VERY VERY good. Just the darn duty. What I need is for them to send them to me as a GIFT (no duty on gifts).
Thanks. |

| Or get a friend or mdx.org member to acccept shipping from tirerack in usa and then re-ship to you, marked as "gift" or something similar that would avoid the duties. |

Lol, Sinecure, that's not a bad idea. Hard part is finding someone willing to take on that burden. |

I doubt Tiretrack will file your item as gift. Therefore you will have to pay (through UPS) 13% duty + $42.25 USD (UPS Customs clearance fee)
Alternatively, if you live not too far from the boarder, you can have the tire shipped to one of the tire shops close to south of the boarder
, and then drive down there to have them installed.
You can then drive the MDX back with new tires, without worrying about the duty/other fees and also enjoy the cheaper US domestic shipping fee. |

Thanks Northern MDX,
That helps me tremendously to estimate the costs for getting that stuff to Canada. That link was especially valuable. |
