I recently began hearing a sound like a chorus of crickets - noticeable in the 20-50 mph range, particularly when driving by solid (reverberation) objects. Went in for timing belt/water pump replacement today and mentioned this sound. Acura thought the new serpentine belt would remedy the situation - but it didn't. I go back tomorrow for them to investigate further. Any ideas what this is? Everything passed on 27-point checkup. Mechanic guessed it could be drive shaft. If that is it - what should I expect to pay for this?

Again someone has pointed out something that has nagged me a little but I couldnt put my finger on it.

I hear the noise more when I accelerate slightly in that mph range.
Crickets are annoying, arent they?

Possibly wheel bearings. But more likely an engine pulley that is slightly corroded.
Sinecure
Not to scare you, but have them put it up on the lift and put the car in gear. Get a stethoscope and put it on the tranny. Mine was more of a whistling noise, and at a higher speed, but it sounds similar.

Unless your kid has a pet lizard. Then its probably actual crickets.
