I recently began hearing a sound like a chorus of crickets - noticeable in the 20-50 mph range, particularly when driving by solid (reverberation) objects. Went in for timing belt/water pump replacement today and mentioned this sound. Acura thought the new serpentine belt would remedy the situation - but it didn't. I go back tomorrow for them to investigate further. Any ideas what this is? Everything passed on 27-point checkup. Mechanic guessed it could be drive shaft. If that is it - what should I expect to pay for this? |

Again someone has pointed out something that has nagged me a little but I couldnt put my finger on it.
I hear the noise more when I accelerate slightly in that mph range.
Crickets are annoying, arent they? |

| Possibly wheel bearings. But more likely an engine pulley that is slightly corroded. |

Not to scare you, but have them put it up on the lift and put the car in gear. Get a stethoscope and put it on the tranny. Mine was more of a whistling noise, and at a higher speed, but it sounds similar.
Unless your kid has a pet lizard. Then its probably actual crickets. |
