Has anyone used the Thule Escape II soft sided cargo carrier on their MDX?
How did it work?
Thanks,

Do you have issues with storing a hard box when you aren't using it? If so, then a soft carrier probably makes some sense. Otherwise, I think hard carriers are much better. Of course the other consideration is that the hard carriers are 3-4x more expensive.
Hard carriers are waterproof - soft ones are sorta waterproof most of the time if it doesn't rain too hard.
Hard carriers are much more secure when your car is parked.
In a hard carrier, you can be as efficient or inefficient in your packing as you like. With soft ones, you should really give some thought to the ultimate shape of the carrier after you cinch down the load.
Skis and snowboards won't slice your hard carrier open (I suppose that's not a big consideration in TX).
In a hard carrier you can toss an obnoxious child in there and no one will notice. With the soft carrier, people will notice the kid squirming around. |
