Anybody know how easy/hard it is to install these:

And is the rear garnish compatible with the tow hitch? Tim? ST? Anybody?
SuperTech
Are you planning on putting on a tow hitch too? The hitch is on national backorder right now (something about wanting to figure out a better design/method of cutting a notch in the bumper). If you're putting the hitch on...it might be best to wait to buy the rear trim. The instructions I have right now don't have any provisions for the hitch like the rear trim does on the RDX.

Both the front and rear trim involve removing the bumpers. Drilling some holes and solting it in is pretty much all that's done for the rear. But the front has quite a bit more steps. Not just drilling holes, but cutting away sections of the bumper.

I would seriously wait for the hitch if you're getting one.

Dang! I was hoping it would be a DIY thing. Yes, I am planning to have the dealer install the hitch. I'll probably wait for Acura to figure out how to install the front and rear garnishes then.

Thanks for the info, SuperTech. And I promise not to ask for any codes.:D

i'm having my dealership install both of these as we speak. i was hoping to pick up the vehicle today, but they broke some sort of clip in the glove box while trying to install the iPOD MusicLink system.

i'll make sure to post pictures when they're done (hopefully tomorrow afternoon)

No, I hadn't seen it. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm having second thoughts about removing the bumper (though I had done that on my 01) and cutting pieces on a 50K SUV. I might just let my dealer do this.

yep, i can verify that the Acura MusicLink for iPOD does in fact exist and work for the 2007 MDX. i had this item installed by the dealership. good thing, because one of the technicians broke a clip in the glovebox, and needed to get a replacement. i'm sure something like that would've happened to me if i did the install :p

i would definitely try to negotiate that lower! the cable and accessories retail for ~$215, so whatever they're charging on top of that is just gravy!

Has anyone seen the front and rear garnish on the Nimbus Gray 2007? What did you think of it? Thanks

i have to admit--i am a bit disappointed with the lower garnish. in the pictures from the website, they appear to be more on the chrome side. in real life, they have a more goldish satin look, not at all chrome.

now, have i seen them on a nimbus grey? yes, and it really doesn't stand out enough, IMHO. just looks like a standard accessory--not something to accentuate.:o

Would it work to have them chromed like they do the RDX wheels?

yes, especially on the darker-colored MDX's. do you have somebody that can chrome the garnishes? i would like to know, cuz i would have them done, in addition to the roof rails. sorta like what Merc Benz did for their GL450.
Nimrod
Yes, I believe I can get them chromed. I will let you know after I talk with the person that does the RDX wheels.

Tim sent me install instruction which TURNED my stomach. NO ONE is removing my bumpers and drilling holes etc........NO WAY !
Nimrod
I can understand your reluctance to drill holes in a perfectly good bumper. I saw the lower garnishes tonight on a nimbus gray. It did not look good at all. It definitely needs to be chromed. The dealer is checking with the guy who chromes the wheels to see how much it would cost. If it isn't too much, I might consider putting the rear garnigh on my nimbus gray X. I have the sport running boards, and I think it would look good with them.
zgaspen
i think it's all a matter of personal pref. i had them installed on my blk/blk and prefer them to be non-chrome, but then again, i live in the mountains and chrome is never ideal.

so far so good for the chrome sport rails. they clean up great and not an area to really scratch like potentially the under garnish.

when i picked mine up, they had the nimbus grey and and cherry pearl with f/r garnish. personally, i thought they both looked much better than without.
benicles
I'd love to see some pics of f/r garnish on a nimbus gray - None of the dealers in my area are installing that many accessories...
