Was at my dealer today and noted that the roof rack is $695!
It is a dealer installed option.
From an examination it seems that the roof strips are removed, cut and then re-installed.
Similar to the prior MDX's, the feet of the rails hold the roof strips.
The cross bars are adjustable.
Point of information: On the demo on the floor, the mechanic did not do a very good job of cutting the roof strips: There was aluminum showing by the foot of the rails, where he cut back too far on the covering on the strips.
Looks like about as complicated as installing the roof rack on prior models - which means not complicated at all!
Seems like a very reasonable "do it yourselfer" especially at $700 plus ( ($695 + tax).
