Hello All,

I am a new member of this forum, as I am considering buying a MDX . I was ready to order the Q7 for my wife, but when I saw and test drive the MDX-2007...everything changed. Superb car with lots of great toys. This is a car that guys will love to drive a lot and everywhere and feel excellent. I am sure it will steal a lot of GX-470 potential customers. People are lining up to test drive it and I have noticed each of them is quite impressed at the end. It looks like dealers are taking solid orders (at least where I live - NOVA) at full MSRP with no discounts. Obviously this is a very rich area and money is not a problem for many. I am not pressured to buy right now, and can not imagine (principle) to pay for any car full MSRP even if novelty. The car with the Technology Package with some additional accessories comes to $46,500.00. Again...this is MSRP!!! How much time would it take to get a 5-6% off the MSRP? Would I need to wait until January or February? At 6% off I would buy it...but at full MSRP...??? Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

FYI: The Q7's sold very slow at the beginning at MSRP and now I see a ton of them in the parking sitting. Even now after 2 months from introduction, the lot is full. It does not look like the dealer is considering lowering the price to move them. Interesting!
highmath
My guess is that you're looking around about tax return season for MSRP to drop anywhere close in that range and if they continue to roll of the lot as they come in. I know the dealer near me is backordered 9 MDXs with build dates from now to Mid Dec :28: .

hello everyone =)

my virgin post here =) well the dealers ive been to have not and will not budge from the msrp price . im looking at a 2007 mdx with the tech package msrp plus destination is about $44165. i would think that they'll be able to get this for awhile so only choice is not pay it and wait instead ?? basic economic 101 with supply and demand :( good luck with your search :)
s2k000L
i think it's gonna take a while to see how the market develops. right now, there seems to be a regular flow of new vehicles to the dealerships, and enough interest from buyers. until the inventory is up to full speed, then can we really know if deals can be made. with the snow months ahead, they tend not to discount on new vehicles.

i would give it at least til feb/mar timeframe to any wiggle room.

As soon as the next gas price spike (not if...when), they'll be deals.

It seemed like every time there was a gas hike the value of my '03 MDX trade went down too.

Thank you very much solaraguy. These prices should help...I hope. So far the dealer will not go less than $1,000.00 off MSRP. Did anybody get a better deal?

wow id take the $1000 and run :) dealers here in north bergan, new jersey arent parting with any new mdx's a penny below MSRP uughhhhhhh :(
Terassus
Wow!!! :( Scarry to pay MSRP for anything...especially on a car! And look at the ordeal with the American makes...they're giving money back, 0% financing and people still don't buy them...
solaraguy
For all the dealers here in the San Francisco area it's MSRP or nothing. Some are even making you purchase a package which includes wheel locks.. My question... has anyone had their stock wheels taken off their car? Maybe aftermarkets but c'mon.

Since I really don't NEED another car just yet I think I'm going to wait until they start dealing more, despite the fact that I have a Tech/Ent/Sport Aspen White/Parchment on its way.

Which brings up another point. I finally saw a Aspen White the other day and noticed that the color of the body vs the bumpers is drastically different. Which really pisses me off when paying for a $50K vehicle you'd think they'd make sure that wasn't the case. Also all of the stock paint jobs have pretty bad 'Orange Peel' on them. So much so that I've considered taking the brand new 07 to my friends to get it color sanded and another coat of clear put on top. We'll see!

I live in northern Bergen County also and I drove by a dealership yesterday and counted 31 MDX's on the lot.

I am suprised that they are still trying to ask MSRP. I remember when I had to wait 8 1/2 months for my '02 and I still was able to buy at MSRP back then when the demand was much greater:confused:

One dealer has offered $1K off one of his in stock MDX's which has all the options. I think interest in the MDX has wained.

Where are you guys finding $1000 or more off of MSRP? I have called 4 local Acura dealers here in Atlanta and visited 2 dealers. I found only ONE MDX on each lot, and they were the Base package. I have to order and wait to get a car and they will not look at you for less than MSRP. One dealer is adding $1000 for a "sealant and protectant" package on top of MSRP. I HATE to spend MSRP, but my lease is up in Dec and have to get something else. BMW is WAY too proud of their X5, basically about 55K for the same features on the MDX 10K cheaper. BMW also stuck on that MSRP as well. Let me know if anyone can confirm name and location of dealers offering discounts off of 07 MDX with tech pkg. Thanks!

How far do you want to drive? There was a recent thread started by a dealer named SDTS who says he may be able to do something about the price, but he's in CA.

I got $900 off after some haggling with McConnell Acura in Montgomery, AL. I actually got $1000 off MSRP from Ken at King Acura in Birmingham, AL, but wanted to deal with my local salesguy and was too lazy to drive my trade-in up there.

Just helped a friend pick up from NJ dealer base for $2K below MSRP, he also gave him protection package free. I had purchased my 05 MDX touring and 3 other friends had purchased from the same dealer in 05. So I guess he gave us very good deal.

The dealer is OpenRoad Acura in Wayne, NJ.

I was also able to pickup $2K below MSRP from a Bay Area dealer.

This is great guys! Looks like things start to move the right direction. I gues if we come together and produce this feedback, we will put some pressure on the dealers that are still too stiff! Great job everybody. I will try to use this information and get the best deal. Things get done when more people pull together!:4:

^^^ I agree. Thanks to the good people here, I just verbally purchased a TECH+RES w Protection Pkg 2 (list $351) for $44,000 even. Deal will be done on Tuesday (I'm busy and dealership busy w end of the month). That's about $2,700 off.

Much props to MDX.org crew!!!!

Black on Black, Baby!
Terassus
Congratulations Aristotle! Great deal you got there! Can you let us know what the Tech+Res is? Tech is the technolgy package...OK, but what about the RES? Also would you go over the Protection Plan you got also in more details? I am sure more of us would like to have all these details. Thank you in advance and let us know when your verbal deal will turn into a written closed deal.

aristotle
Thank you.

RES. Meant to say Rear Entertainment System (RES) but it's now called Entertainment Pkg (includes DVD, heated 2nd row, power tailgate, 115 volt power outlet).

The Protection Pkg #2 includes, locking wheel nuts, mud flaps, rear cargo mat, I believe, small stuff that's quite overpriced, but nice as a throw in).

NO admin fee or any of that nonsense fluff. Cash and carry (will come back to Canada with me).

Verbal deal is solid - did all my dealings directly with sales manager. Great gentleman - offered me a job as salesperson (LOL). Will fax on Monday (he offered to fax Sat., but that is an exceptionally busy day at dealership, and am in no great hurry).

That price is my honest price. No other charges except $40 for something (?)...no tax, will be exporting it and pay tax here.

I really thank everyone who gav eme the tool sto get a good deal. Amazing how things change quickly. Will be very pleased if others are able to use this info to strike a better deal.
:)

Aristotle, aren't you taking a big risk exporting a $44K vehicle where the warranty is void? I guess you can drive over the border if you need service...
aristotle
Fair point....but when I weigh the pluses and minuses, it's fine with me.

Savings on the vehicle (built here in Alliston, Ontario, btw) are about $11,000 CDN or $9,500 USD. Really, the odds of something major going wrong during the warranty period and being fixed under warranty are very small, on a quality Acura product that is gently driven and well maintained. If it's a catastrophic (read $$$)occurrence, will drive it an hour to Buffalo.

Otherwise, small stuff can easily be dealt with here, and I doubt over the life of the warranty, I will be giving back much of the $11,000 CDN. :)

That is what I was told. I am trying now to see if things changed. It looks like $2,000.00 off MSRP should be doable (based on above posts). If with TECH pkg. invoice is $39,882.72 (dest incl) and MSRP is $44,165 I should be able to get the car at $2,000 over invoice which is $41,882.72.

Open question for all: Is this a fare deal and should it work even if the market is so hot after this car?
acitydweller
Ive heard people wiggling out of the destination charge but not much beyond that. $670 i thnk

According to my dealership(Only 1 in the whole state of Iowa) that the MDX is getting harder to get all the time. That is in the Tech, Sport, and RES....I dunno if that is totally true.

Would he be basing that off of what other dealerships are showing in the states that surround Iowa, or what? I know when we went there 2 weeks ago, there were about 8 or so.

We are going down there again tomorrow so my girlfriend can test drive it, since she didn't feel up to it 2 weeks ago.

I'm going to try to convince her to go with the Sport pkg, even tho she doesn't seem to want the pref. leather seats, b/c she accidentally threw up in her TL and a little bit got into the holes. Freak accident, but I doubt it'll happen again. I'd like to see what all they show on that dvd that comes with a new MDX showing the active damper system.

I think it'll be worth it b/c of the crappy streets we have in our hometown.

Maybe I'll see if he can go $1750 off, instead of $1,000 just to see if he'll come back with another figure.
Terassus
Things are very different all around the country as far as the pricing. The more remote and finacially depressed areas will comand discounts up to $2,000 off MSRP (Niagara, Iowa, etc). The dealers need to make a living there too, so they will discount them heavilly if they have takers. Usually those areas are packed with Chevy's, Fords and GM's. On the other hand if you have the luck to be in a solid prosperous region with a lot of customers with big money but willing to get more value and toys for their money (after checking the Q7, ML, X5, XC-90) and still get a great SUV, the dealer will not leave almost any space for negotiating. I was at an Acura dealership this weekend, that is next to a Chevy one, and the Acura one was so packed it was incredible. People were buying and writing contracts at MSRP all day. Small wigle on the accesories... Looking accross at the Chevy dealer was so deprresing, as it was empty and the salespeople were bored looking amazed at the continuous Acura traffic. It is a very hot car and it looks like it will continue to sell like this for awhile, and also steal lots of customers from the others well overpriced.

$2712 discount, no options (decided to forego Protection Pkg. 2 and took the $351 as further cash discount). Absol. no other fees/charges, period. Bought 07 Tech, Entertainment, Black/Black today. Deal is done.

Is $2712 off the new benchmark? lol

Thanks to all!!!!!!!!!!

I work for a dealer in Arizona. We currently have 8 assorted MDX's available and another 8 on the way that aren't spoken for. The demand for the Sport Pkg seems to be the lowest. We have been offering some small discounts but if you are out west and looking for a Sport Pkg I may be able to help with a larger discount.

Hello all,

Great to see there is a forum for the car we love most. Anyway, I am new owner of a 2007 MDX W/ TECH package.

I thought I would help everyone out by letting them see how I paid $41,500 for mine.

My strategy was to find the dealer's w/ a lot of inventory. Next, call the internet manager. As far as I know they get paid on volume and not on a per car basis. Next, they have to have the car you want in stock. Now is the time, December/January are the slowest months for dealers. Next, call the internet manager up and tell him/her that you have researched the car, you have test drove the car and you know what the dealer invoice is and the holdback is. You then tell them with a serious tone you won't waste anyone's time and that you will buy the car today if they can do it for $xx. I told them $41,500, which is exactly $1,000 over invoice. I thought it was a fair profit for the dealership. They really don't need to make more than that because the dealer invoice is definiteley not the dealer cost.

I had to call about 4 dealers until finally one said OK. I then followed through on my promise. I drove down the next day and bought the car, which was last night.

Also, don't talk trade until you establish a price on the vehicle first. Tell them you have a buyer for yours. Then when you go in tell them your buyer fell through. Good luck! Hope this helps.

07' MDX w/ Tech package
Invoice=$39,882 + $670 Destination Charge = $40,552

See Carsdirect.com

Remember, this is invoice not actual dealer cost. They also have holdback and volume incentives I am sure. Thanks

The Arizona dealers all participate in Acura's advertizing program so the invoice on a Tech/Ent is $42,162.83. Dealers that do not participate in the Ad program will have and invoice cost of $300.00 less.

Yes on holdback but no volume incentives.

Yes i work at a dealer and yes i think you got a good deal but invoice in AZ is $40,182.72 in your area it could be $300.00 less, so according to my math you paid more than a grand over.

I am i out in western, MA and I went to about 5 dealers and no one wanted to come down from MSRP.

I am now thinking of getting the extended warranty due to the high miles I drive. What is cost on an extended and what is a good deal?

Is the hondaacura warranty from hondacuraworld
the real thing? Thanks

Guys! This is indeed a great car! Finally I closed the deal and my wife has never been happier. She is getting compliments everywhere she goes. I did not get even close to this when I was the first I bouth the Lexus LS-430 first time it came out in my state, back in 2001. It is an amazing car. At traffic lights people just stare and forget about the green light. Solid built, lots of toys and ammenities...basically everything you need in a SUV...and even much more and a price the others can not even come close: Q7, ML500, X5, XC90. Acura built a car to please and be proud of. This is a car to enjoy a lot and I will do this too not only my wife!

Tech Pakg +Silver+taupe+ front and rear lower garnish+ cross rails.

So if the dealer has one that coming from another dealership for you, and you've put $500 down for it....any way to still call other dealerships outta state and see if they can make a better deal, and possibly get it from them?

I believe all deposits are refundable as long as you didn't order the car from the factory. It probably depends on your state too.

Hi,

I'm new here but we're looking at a new MDX. Does anyone have any good experiences with Southern CA dealers? Santa Monica was a $5K markup for their MDXs.

I paid MSRP for mine, but I did manage to have dealership to include and install roof rail and the auto dimming mirror for me. They also give me the cargo mat and net, O yes and the wheel lock for FREE  However, I receive a call from Tustin Acura couple days ago, they were wondering if I'm still in the market for the car, the sales told me he can give me great deal like $3000 of the MSRP :banghead: . Did not get into detail with him, but might be worth a try for those who are still in the market. Good luck!:)

Arlington Acura.

They probably had 8-9 MDX's on the lot. The one we picked up was buried in snow in the back of the lot, Nimbus Gray and Taupe interior base model. Not my fav color combo, but I wasn't the buyer.

Just purchased '07 MDX Sport/Ent with Silver/Taupe on Sunday. Paid $2.5K off MSRP and $1,260 for four accessories (Day/Night rear-view mirror, sport running board, roof rack, & body side molding). My wife and I were hungry and tired, so we decided to go with it. But for those more patient, I think you can get $3K off MSRP. One things for sure, dealers are willing to come down more than last month....

I think I gave some money back to the dealer by purchasing "Touch of Class w/ ResistAll" protection package at $698. I had same applied to my Lexus SC430 and it looked great. I'm learning that you can get the same results with Zaino for considerably less money. Oh, well.....

Will try to post some pictures when the accessories are installed.

'07 MDX: Sport/Ent with Silver/Taupe
'03 Lexus SC430: Silver/Black

That is a great deal! Congrats. I am so tempted with the new MDX, but I will wait a while more to replace my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Ltd. It will be 6 years and 100K miles on Dec 30. :)

I pinged a couple of dealers and I will wait for a one time deal to come before I pull the trigger - maybe 1-2 years from now, maybe this month!

use the internet sites such as edmunds or cars.com to email the dealers on exactly what you want. Some dealers will have a no haggle price which is where the 1000 below msrp is coming from. This is in california, so it depends if you have a high volume dealer around your area. Try sending emails to dealers as far away as say 50-60 miles around you. I think it's worth the $ to drive a little further. But makes sure you get an email that states the price exactly and call them to make sure they have the exact car you want before driving over there.

Has anyone purchased recently at Pauly Acura (Highland Park) or McGrath Acura (Morton Grove) and gotten more than $500 off MSRP.

Both dealers are telling me that they just are not getting enough Tech/Ent or Sport/Ent allocated from Acura to deal on those models.

Any feedback on the buying experience or service with either of these two dealers would also be appreciated.
MDX4now
While I can't speak for the 2007 prices, I will say Pauly was a pleasure dealing with when we bought our 2006.

Being a smaller dealership, I could see where they might initially have supply problems with the 2007's. This was the reason in 2003, which is why we ended up buying our last MDX from Acura of Libertyville.

McGrath was wishy-washy on the trade and new car price, and the free car wash was not the item that was going to sway me.

They're a much larger dealership than Pauly though, so they might be trying to hold out as long as possible on the MSRP just for the sake of it.

We paid $44K for a sport pkg. on Sat. (does not have ent. pkg.). That included all season floor mats, auto dim mirror, cargo tray, and tinting the front windows. Also got the tow pkg. at cost, but payed for that out of pocket, so it is not included in the purchase price.

As I told my wife when we left the dealership, we got a fair deal, not a great deal. But, I'm happy with it and she absolutely loves her new MDX.

If you look at it with all the options/accessories added to the MSRP (not counting tinting towards it) ... you received a discount of $2,829 ... not too shabby I'd say.

I got $2700 off a new 07 Tech Ent. on Nov. 30, Upstate New York, and posted here on Nov. 30

And I posted again four days later confirming the deal was done.

Any non-dealers are welcome to send me their name and daytime contact phone number, and I will have the Acura sales manager from whom I bought (upstate New York), call you at his convenience. No problem, my pleasure.

The dealer offered us $19000 for our 03 Touring with nav and 56100 miles. We sold it to a private party for the same amount, so it was not a factor in the deal.

By the way, our 03 was probably the best vehicle we have ever owned. I put brakes on it at 55000 (of course just before we sold it) and other than a couple of minor interior trim pieces that broke, it was trouble free.

That said, the 07 is a better vehicle in every respect. And as we all know, if the wife is happy, I'm happy. :)

Has anyone seen any deals coming out of the Midwest (Minneapolis / St. Paul) area?

I've been pacing the floor for the last month to find a deal on a '07 Sport; but, the best I'm seeing right now is a 6 week wait on MSRP.

Suggestions welcome.

Hey TKO-around Thanksgiving the Des Moines Iowa Acura dealership was running an anniversary special, $1,000 off. We didn't decide to make the purchase until after that, but since we bought our 04 TL there, the salesman gave us the discount after that time. Also, they threw in Cargo Liner, all season mats, and wheel locks into the deal.

Make a phone call and see what type of deal they can make. I can't make any promises that they'll do it, but it's worth a shot. Then maybe you can drive down and pick one up. Talk to Dave Rice. That's who we've been with both times. He's the Internet Sales Manager.

I checked at the dealerships listed up in Minnesota, and none of them were willing to do any type of deal for me. This was about 2 weeks ago.

I received just over $1300 off MSRP, but then again with all those accessories they are making a killing.

Thanks much for the tip! I'll try to drop him a line this weekend.

I just bought the 2007 Acura MDX on 12/17/06 and paid 800 above Invoice price. I live in bay area. Anyone planning to buy here, then let me know I can give the reference.

Nice job! Any special tricks? Did they have a large inventory?

Before going to the dealer, I have collected the quote from all the dealers within 100 miles via e-mail. Initially I was planning to buy MDX with Tech package and got a deal of $300 below invoice. but later changed my mind and went with Tech plus Entertainment package. I didn't had quote for that, so was bargaining based on quote of Tech package. I've tried with two dealers and both came down to $1000 above invoice. Later one of the dealer came down to $800 above invoice. I think it's a very good deal. I am not sure about the inventory, but saw quite a few MDX parked in the show room.

I was able to pick up a black/taupt tech/res. for $1,000 off MSRP.
I live in Southern California.
I have purchased two TL's and a 2001 MDX all at MSTP or about $500 off, so I was pleased with the $1,000 off this time.

Funny how dealers will say that the car is so hot and in demand but their inventory numbers tell a different story. By the way, where did you do this deal?

I bought it from sunnyvale acura.

Been shopping for one with Tech package in Southern California. Received a few internet quotes, some dealers are still quoting MSRP. Got one that was quotes at MSRP-1500, but it's tricky 'cos of the added "dealer-installed options". JUST drove home one today (YEAH!!!) with Tech package at 1800 below MSRP, then paid 1400 for roof rails, side moldings, sports running board, wheel lock/cargo tray/mud guards.

I figure this may not be the best possible deal but shouldn't be too bad I hope?

got mine for $1600 off msrp in Los Angeles, CA

black/ebony no tech

I got the run around from several dealers. Here's what i learned, just incase u speak to a dealer and they say they have the car in stock but when you get there it's already sold or something.

Call the dealership twice or have a friend call as well and talk to a different dealer. Ask about the exact car and how many they have in stock. Most likely you will hear different numbers because they dont have any in stock, they just want you to come in.

Ask the dealer if you can get the vin number. All of the dealers I talked to said they could but it would take time or they would have to call me back to check, but they never did.

Good luck to everyone!

How did you arrive at 300 below invoice on the Tech anyway?

I got my Aspen White Sport/Ent for $1,700 below MSRP from Acura of Concord. My dealer said that the non sport/ent models which they get more of they can bargain more with but as other people mentioned in this thread and in others the dealerships have a limited number of sport/ent shipped to them per month. My dealer is alloted 2 per month so they were n't ready to deal very much.

Go to Jackson Acura, talk to Darren Schelle, for a 2007 MDX on lot, I got Black/parchment Tech with cross bars, roof rails, body side moldings, wheel locks out the door for $45250( includes 6% cobb tax). Gotta like one on their lot and he can do this deal!
