I just pulled my FS spare up into the storage spot and was wondering, how are you all hanging your's? Good side up or good side down?
Also I have the OEM hitch and it makes the spare not sit flat into the top of the mounting cubby. Anyone notice this also? I think it will be alright like this, there is plenty of ground clearance. Just hoping it doesn't make any noise. |

R-MDX,
When you crank up the FSS, the "good side" faces up. Be sure to put some kind of padding (I use old folded up t-shirts) between the rubber of the tire and the underbody. This will prevent permanent tire creases from setting in when you crank up the FSS into place. |

| I have a FSS with the good side up, and OEM hitch, and haven't had any problems while following a 5-tire rotation. I don't use padding (probably a good idea, though), but I do put a strip of electrical tape on each of the 5 high points of my 2001 factory wheel in case it rubs up there on something somehow. Doing a 5-tire rotation could help keep one tire from sitting in there too long. |
