Hi all,

I changed my trans fluid the other day...have 24,000 kms on the MDX...I did the 3x flush/fill (what a pain). The fluid looked fine - I just did it because I do a fair amount of towing. Anyways, I filled the trans with fluid unit it reached midway between the high/low marks on the dipstick. But then the other day I was checking all my fluids and checked the trans fluid level when the engine/trans was hot and the fluid was low...So I added more through the filler hole.

Is the trans fluid supposed to be checked when the fluid is hot and vehicle running? There's no hot/cold marks on the dipstick like some vehicles...

...with fluid warm. When you get gas is a good time since you're just waiting to fill the tank anyway. I change my 03's at every-other oil change. Drain once and add three quarts. Seems to work and is simple since you're under there anyway with the oil change. Didn't see what year your MD is so I don't know if it is differeny from my '03. What you save on the tranny change the first time will pay for a shop manual for your vehicle, which I recommend you purchase. Lots of good info for the do-it-yourselfer.
