Traded 05 for a 07 MDX - Click HERE for Original Thread

Friends,
I made the move and traded my 05 MDX(Touring + NAV) for a 07 MDX(Tech package). Given the changes that Acura made to make an already great car to be awesome, I couldn't resist to get the new one. I have been told that the car will arrive next week. Added some accessories like running board, day/night mirror, body side molding and lowjack. Will write more after I get the car.

Didn't have any leverage on the price of the new car(paid MSRP) but got a good trade-in value (between the good & excellent as per KBB). Also got good pricing for the accessories. I must admit the install prices have come down a lot when compared to what I paid for my 05.

For all those 05 owners out there, think about it :-)

How many miles on the 05? how much did they give you?
I'm thinking about it but the young salesman is about to be eaten......Let me know !

Greatly appreciated!

17,100 miles. Got $31.1K trade-in. They also promised to throw in some freebies like wheel locks(everybody gets it), all season floor mats and cargo tray. Additionally, they tried to sell me the extended waranty for twice the price that Tim is offering for. I plan to get in touch with Tim soon.

Extended Warranty: Why bother? In 4 to 5 years there will be a new redesigned MDX which I am sure will be much better than the '07!

I didn't mess with the extended warranty now that they have the standard 6 year warranty on the drive train. That was an unexpected surprise, I was expecting the same 4 year warranty that my 04 MDX had.

Did you actually check out the running boards on the 2007? It's lower to the ground than your 2005. A 2007 in the showroom had them, and I thought they got in the way more than they helped.

Not for little people. My 8 and 6 year old use them just fine.

I just brought home a 2007 Tech/Entertainment package in formal black with the ebony interior. Since I went black, I'm having them apply the PermaPlate. I also got Lojack and the breakage sensor alarm.

They wouldn't take anything off the MSRP so I had them add in the roof rails, cross bar and the ipod link. They didn't agree to this until I was leaving the dealership.

Funny thing is, they received 3 in that day, and 2 of the 3 were already gone. I'm only guessing that what the manager told me was true..."I have to make one more deal today". As it was 8pm, I was his last chance. Cool.

He brought up the Acura website that the dealer uses and showed me his cost on the extras including labor. If what he showed me was true...the extras costs him around $1200 or so.

I had shopped around a bit and no one was lowering the price. I know why. It's a great car.

Or little old people too. My 80 year old mother couldn't come close to getting in without them. She has even learned to hold on tight going around corners, this MDX just begs to be driven harder than my 03.

You should wait till she's inside before taking the corners at those speeds.

Also for 2007, Acura has lowered the height on the 07 MDX which lowers the vehicle center of gravity thus making it more stable (I hope). In fact, the ceiling height had been reduced by atleast 1-2 inches (i could feel it). Maybe this is why the running boards appear lower. Also these boards have been very helpful for my 6 year and 2 year olds. In fact, even i find it helpful. Can't imagine being without them.

As for price, everybody has to pay MSRP now. In fact one of our family friends were told "this is the price means this is the price....". Look at the attitude there. But I must admit, dealerships are going generous on the add-ons and accessories and if you can negotiate properly, there are willing to budge to win your business. Atleast my dealer did it.

Question about ipod link: My dealer told me that they have been discontinued by Acura. Is this true ? I want them also. Also I have been hearing that the music system plays mp3s burnt on a DVD. Is this true ? If so, who needs a ipod link ? (apologies to the ipod owners)

I thought that's what the roof rails are for, so your passsengers can hang on firefighter-style.
