Already have an 06 MDX Touring/Nav/RES so I was looking to replace my 03 Outback wagon (inherited).

Played two other dealers against the one where we bought the MDX last year and they finally gave me invoice on the RDX Tech.

Also 3.9% financing for 36 months (also 4.9% for up to 60 months is available)

All three dealerships had plenty of inventory -- will have it by the weekend even with some dealer installed options to get.

The redesigned CR-V must really be cannibalizing sales in this market. A loaded CR-V with NAV and 4WD is around $30K while the RDX Tech invoice is $33.5K so the difference isn't that huge (around $70/mo in your payment).

Both will have great resale. The RDX has the turbo which I'm not sure my wife would care for but I think is cool. This time next year we'll be replacing her "vintage" CR-V with most likely...another CR-V. Acura isn't as much of a perceived value as it used to be for me.

For options, check out www.hondacuraworld.com , an advertiser on this site. Tim is the proprietor and a reason enough to stay with the Honda brand!

RDX's selling at invoice only several months after introduction? Unfortuantely for Acura, it's just more confirmation of the miss they made with the vehicle's pricing.

The 2007 MDX won't drop quite as fast, but I expect big discounts very soon and invoice some time after.

Im also surprised that you can get RDX at invoice. I think it's great though as I really like the car, just thought it was overpriced.

On the CR-V. I really like the redesign. It is definitiely more stylish now. But I would definitely still pay a 3.5k difference for the RDX over the CR-V.

BTW, my pricing above for the CR-V compared to RDX is actually a greater difference between the two because I used CR-V MSRP. I disn't check the invoice price but I was looking at 4WD with NAV. My wife actully wants the NAV after having it for the last 4 years in my car. This is the same woman who said she would live like the Amish if only they had air conditioning. :-)

I just checked with two dealers in Brooklyn last week and all trims of the '07 CRV are still going at MSRP, give or take $100-200. Also, I don't think the NAV version is available yet.

first of all, the CRV and RDX are totally different vehicles,

they are built on totally different platforms all together (RDX has it own, and CRV has a CIVIC platform)

also the all wheel drive system is totally different, as well as the power plant (IE turbo 2.3 in the RDX)

in canada anyway, the warranty is completely different too, 4year 80,000km basic, for acura, compared to 3/60 for the honda products

over all, the RDX is a much better deal, but in the end its what you like.

second of all, how do you know you got invoice price??? just because they showed you the paper work doesnt mean that its legit, do you know what a real invoice looks like??

is it possible that they made there own invoice, and showed it
to you?? i dont think that a dealer would sell as such a low price so soon.

but hey its possible, so good luck.

The RDX's are going at invoice. When I thought we would be getting an RDX and not an MDX I was quoted $46 above invoice on an RDX from one dealership.

Edmunds and kbb have invoice pricing --

I took the invoice + destination and added the option pricing available at acura.com and that's what I signed for.

I never saw any paperwork from the dealer save for the window sticker.

Their first quote for the vehicle was $37764. That was WITHOUT the roof rack ($399) So I'm pretty happy with $35550 with the rack and the rest of the list. I need the vehicle now as I've sold my Outback privately or I would have waited until Dec 31 to try to knock off another $150 or so. I did also get the incentive financing which is 3.9% for 36 months.

Not bad at all. I know a lot of folks had misgivings about paying $37,165 for an RDX with the Tech Package. But $33,960 might change a few minds. (I'm using prices with destination quoted from MSN).

If the RDX is selling at invoice only several months after it was introduced, that'll probably mean that Acura will have to apply dealer incentives earlier than they would have liked. So one should be able to go BELOW invoice after some time.

Unfortunately, that means some depreciation hit for folks who wanted to, or had to, purchase when prices were higher.

Still, $34k seems steep for what the Rdx has to offer (turbo 4, 240hp, 23/19 mpg). A nicely equipped RAV4 V6 Ltd (na V6 269hp, 28/21 mpg) can be had for <31k. I'll wait to see the Lexus version of the RAV4 . . .

I agree that the RAV4 V6 is a nice value buy. But the RAV4 doesn't have all the "gadgetry" that Acura RDX/MDX buyers seem to favor, nor does the RAV4 have the RDX's handling characteristics. Some will pay the additional dollars to get the gadgets and better handling.

E.g. some will think the additional $3k or so worth it if it adds the navigation system, xenons, etc.

The RDX was also a "top safety pick" from IIHS; the RAV4 wasn't.

A Lexus version of the RAV4 V6 will prbobably negate the price advantage.

Dunno which I'd buy. If Subaru makes an Outback XT STi, that might change things for me. :D
