i had my mdx in for service and i was given a rdx w/tech package
as a loaner, these are my findings:
1. only good point is that the rdx handles extremely well
and that is about it
bad points
1. engine sounds like a tin can, when first depressing the throttle
the turbo spools up and sounds like a major exhaust leak,
i had an audi a6 turbo and the sound of the turbos spooling
up sounded nothing like this
2. the upgraded els stereo sounded horrible, i even adjusted all
the sound settings, mdx bose stereo sounded much better
and that is not saying much
3. i was much happier getting back into my 2005 mdx, i have
crossed this vehicle off my list , i do not see how anybody
can spend 35000 on a vehicle like this, just my opinion |

I think they missed the boat. For several thousand less they could have called it a Honda CRV Sport.
Even then, the CRV might do better with a V6 like the RAV4. |

RDX could have done a bit better with a V6. I thought it drives rather nicely, it is, however, VERY small.
Also, it is my understanding a loaded CRV is currently going for only a few K less, so IMO the RDX would make sense for that market.

A loaded CRV has leather and Nav. Once it starts selling at invoice it will be $25.8K. An RDX with Nav is $33.9K invoice. So there is a substantial difference ($8K) difference once the prices settle. |

Interesting points.
I went to the dealership with the intention of buying an RDX. After the test drive, I was impressed in the sense that it felt like a little sports car, as opposed to a mini-ute.
I then jumped into an '07 MDX and fell in love. Awesome power, solid feeling, etc.
My final test drive was in an '06 MDX. I opened the door, looked inside, and realized I was looking at an upscale version of the '01 Odessey I was trading in (no disrespect intended). I didn't even start the thing up.
I went inside the showroom and wrote a check for the '07 MDX. No regrets.

| You're not alone, my dealer has probably over 20 sitting on the lot. They just aren't selling well. |

20? Wow. Must be a very large dealer. The dealers around me have more than they ought to, but not 20.
The Mazda CX-7 is doing significantly better, but even those are plentiful on dealer lots. And the first ute of this sort, the BMW X3, never has really caught on.
Seems that the compact performance SUV isn't going to be a large segment. |

To each his own, I guess. I spent the bucks to get the RDX and frankly I love it. We also have a 2003 MDX, which is nice in a different way.
I look forward to driving my RDX, haven't felt that way about a vehicle in a long time.
The stereo in the RDX is awesome, I have five DVD-A's and marvel at how great they sound.
Fun, fun, fun! |

I absolutely agree!!! I love the RDX. I don't WANT or NEED the extra size of the MDX or the price. The RDX rides & handles the twisties great, the stereo is WAY BETTER than either of my MDX's, mileage is fine, performance is awesome. It still has the build & class of an ACURA. :4: |

Yeah it's a nice ride but what stopped me from considering it is that the navigation isn't in a good position like the MDX has it. With the MDX it's right at eye level with the road. They should have done the same with the RDX. |

Looking at the two side by side, (RDX vs MDX) the RDX navi screen isn't that much lower than the one in the MDX? Your talking maybe an inch? Oh, well, I don't have navi, (nor do I need it!) and I love my M.I.D. screen right where it is. The RDX is WAY to great to worry about that small stuff! |

| I think the RDX is sweet. I Just wanted more room. I think it is like a mini mdx on steroids. It handles unreal is quick and a very fun good looking ride. The interior guages and whatnot are awesome. The dash looks like a spaceship. I wish the mdx had bigger brighter gauge cluster but I still love the mdx. |
