| I've been looking at 03 MDX's as that was the first we got in Australia. I notice theres been a few probs pre 03 but doesnt seem to be a lot after 03. Does that mean its been fixed or are there still probs with them.? |

Would be interesting to see the numbers. My Daughter owns a 2004 Pilot, Son-in-Law has a 2003 MDX, and we have the 2002 MDX. The 2003 MDX, at about 25000 miles, had to have the transmission replaced, the others with more miles are still OK.
I also wonder what effect the tow package has on transmission problems. Some like us have the tow package and never tow. Does the coolers reduce transmission failures in those situations?
How about those that do tow? Are the transmission failures higher. |

Yes definately it would be interesting to know the % of probs verses no probs.. We always seem to hear the bad news.!
I haven't heard as yet of any probs here as yet but if anyone has had or heard of probs in Aust tell us about it, would be great to hear from you.
Thanks for any help.:) |

Great poll.. thanks for the info. :)
So it does look better 03 onwards, but still not great.! I wonder when in 03 the new trans was fitted, are all 03's running the revised or only the mdx's built mid or late year?
I'm not sure but i believe we have a Feb built and a later November build dates, so maybe the late 03 onwards gets the revised trans.
I just dont know if its worth the risk.! I love the MDX, they drive fantastic and seems like a great engine but is it worth it if the gearcruncher throws in the towel. Would be out of warranty and who knows what it would cost with so few of them here.!:( |

It all depends on what you mean by problem. Matter of fact, it also depends on which tranny you are talking about. :2: I guess there were trannies born or "made" after 2003, so I guess the "problem" exists.
Sorry, couldn't resist making that joke. Outside of this particular forum, tranny only means one thing and it doesn't refer to an automotive component. :D |
