First time posting here...just sold my Jeep Wrangler for a 2001 MDX in awesome condition.
Question. My MDX has the Touring and NAvigation package, butthe interface and mapping views look really old and primitive. I have a portable NAV-U from Sony which is great.
Is it possible to upgrade with a disc or DVD? will that only upgrade the streets etc or will it upgrade the resolution and interface?

Depending on your disc version, it might upgrade some software features, but I don't think the interface nor the screen resolution changes from disc to disc. Upgrades are available at acuranavi.com, or you might want to hang around here or ebay for owners selling their older versions.

have there been no updates to the interface since 2001? a 2006 MDX has the same map look that the 2001 has?

The 04 to 06 definitely has a better interface than the 01, with added features, voice activation, etc. The backup camera was added in 03.
Now, from my short experience with the 07, the interface is great, the screen is adjustable (black level, contrast etc) without having to go into the computer diagnostics mode on the older X, while still retaining the best of the 06's features. |

Please excuse my ignorance here, ive had my 2001 MDX for 72 hours now....
Will buying the current update disk change the view/interface of the navigation unit? or just update the streets etc?
Can i get voice on the 2001 MDX? |

| Like I said, depending on your disc version, it might upgrade some minor software features and will likely update your points of interest (POI) but not much else. It will NOT change the interface and will NOT add voice activation. |

You cannot get or add voice command to an '01 navi system. Likewise, the update disc will only give you current map and POI updates--it will not change the graphical interface at all. '04 was the big change, and '05-'06 was better still with features and bigger screen, better interface, etc. |

I own an 2001 MDX & did the 2005 disc upgrade. The only thing it added was more streets, POI's, & the womans voice sounds more pleasent. THAT'S ALL!!!
P.S. Don't ask how much the disc was, I got it for free. |

| Thanks for your response. I just cant beleive that the GPS system wouldnt have Canada. Every aftermarket unit has the capabilities to download Canadian maps. strange. |
