I've done a lot of reading but I can't seem to find the exact answer to my question. I have a 02 MDX non Touring and I want to upgrade the stereo to a Pioneer AVIC-Z1. I'll be fabricating my own double din dash piece out of fiberglass which will allow me move the trip computer down to where the stock stereo was and install the AVIC-Z1 into where the trip computer originally was. My question is how are you guys wiring your after market stereos? Are the stock amps being bypassed or
is there a way to feed a low level signal in to the amps to maintain original sound quality? Any suggestions greatly appreciated, Thanks.

| A harness that connects to the factory plug can be purchase at numerous store.Best Buy,Circuit City,Walmart,Ebay etc.Just match the color of pioneer harness to aftermarket harness.I know fo r a fact that Circuit City sells a total of 2 harness that will yet you connect the Factory plug directly to the Pioneer console... |

| Yeah I'm planning on buying the harness but what I'm wondering is if the speaker wires coming out the stock stereo are amplified or does the MDX have external amps if so how many? Thanks in advance. |

From what I have read from other members.There are two amps for the MDX..One for the Front and Rear speakers and one for the subwoofer..I am not quite sure if the stock radio send a low level signal or high level signal to the stock amp. I know that the front and rear amp is located under the transmission column..Maybe the aftermarket harness connect directly to the output of the stock amp.And I don't think they will sell that MDX harness if it doesn't work..
