Installing Sirius Radio in 2006 Acura MDX - Click HERE for Original Thread

Since getting my MDX in August, I've been trying to figure out how to get Sirius radio in it. I've arrived at a decent solution that I have not come across here in these forums.

I am using Blitzsafe Hon/AUX DMX V.2X to connect to the back of the radio. Then a P.I.E. 3.5-RCAA6mm to convert the RCA jack to a 3.5mm jack for the back of the unit. A Panavise will hold my Sportster 4 on the dash. I should be able to listen to the sat. radio through the Aux input.

The antenna will go on the front dash as the windshield is sloped and allows for good reception (this will keep a clean look to the outside of the vehicle).

I'll place another post when the job is done with pics.

There are some installs on here using similar setups, possibly with XM. I have my antenna tucked up under the upper dash pad in the center, so it is invisible, seems to work as well as on dash mount and much cleaner.

Good luck on the install, post pics!

I'm surprised that the antenna works with it hidden under the dash. My experience has been that the antenna needs to be exposed. Unless I'm misunderstanding you. I'll try to get my results up with pics next week.

I installed a small portable XM Radio in my 04 MDX and placed the small 1" Square Antenna on the roof about 6" in front of the MDX Antenna mounted on the rear roof. I was told that antenna was the FM Antenna. The XM-Antenna receives the XM Signal and then Transmits it to the MDX Radio thru its antenna. The reception was OK, but went in and out when driving on streets with trees near the road on the south side.

This would annoying when listening to the news. I did fix the problem completely by buying a 07 MDX. Now the reception is great and the music sould is much better. The signal no longer breaks up while driving toward town from my house.

sportster 4 going to be installed in mine soon.. same blitzsafe adapter, but i went with a p.i.e. 3 input adapter, and got the ipod adapter, so i can run the sirius, ipod, and 1 other input.. haven't figured out what to do w/ the 3rd one yet

the sportster is small enough to go into the cubby under the "not an ashtray", it's a little far away to actually touch, but the remote works great

i had the antenna in my ram on the dash under a hat, and it worked great, sometimes a little fuzzy under trees in the rain, but no big deal

The antenna will work just as well under the dash as our dash is just plastic, which the signal penetrates easier. It may actually work better as it is closer to top of the dash's metal frame which it uses as a ground plane. I have done this in several cars and all have worked as well as the antenna sitting on the dash.

I'll be sure to try things with the antenna "hidden." Thanks for all the info.
