MDX Pulling to the right - Radial tires - Click HERE for Original Thread

My 1 month old MDX has been pulling to the right since I first picked it up. This mainly happens at freeway speeds, where if I let go of the steering wheel the car starts turning to the right at about 10 to 20 degrees.

I originally thought that this was an alignment problem. After taking the car to the dealer they tell me that the alignment is fine and that there is something wrong with my tires..something to do with the radial of the tires making them favor pull to the right. The dealer refuses to fix the problem, since they say tires are under the manufacturer warrenty and that I need to go to Goodyear for service (I don't have the Touring package, so my car came with Goodyear tires instead of Michelin).

Has anyone seen this problem? I would appreciate any feedback.

Acura (and more specifically, their dealers) never cease to amaze me! I've had a number of cars over the years that have had tire problems from the factory and I've NEVER had a dealer refuse to take care of it for me if it was in the first year and 12,000 miles... I these "other" dealers remembered what the concept of service was...

As a case in point, a friend of mine with a RX300 had a similiar problem to a lesser degree and without even being asked or prodded, the Lexus dealer replaced all four wheels and tires. The problem was gone and my friend is now a staunch fan of Lexus because of this (and other) dealership experiences. Want to guess what make he will buy when his current lease is up???

ootyboy,

Do you have the choice to go to different Acura dealer? Not all Acura dealers are the same in terms of "customer service". Unfortunately, there seems to have more bad ones than good ones (my perception).

Quite regretfully to hear those type of service behaviors from a luxury car dealer. Fortunately, I have not experienced this type of dealer behavior yet and the MDX is my first Acura. I knew my Toyota dealer have handled this "tire" problem better than The Acura dealer you are dealing with.

I have read a couple of posts here where members had a tire problem and the dealer just replaced it. Seems your dealer just needs to have better 'service'
Try another dealer. Ofcourse, I know the thought of going to another dealer does not make you happy but I think that is a better option.

I finally got two new front tires after making multiple calls to my dealer and threthening them with nasty letters to Acura. I called the Sales manager and complained about the problem. He got in touch with the service manager and made sure that I got new tires. However, the service manager seemed upset since he was telling me that Acura does not take care of tires for them, and the cost of new tires is coming out of their own pocket. At that point I said that I did not care about their profit margin, and I expected a luxury dealer to treat their buyers correctly.

Anyway, this has been a troublesome expereince. I am not sure if I will ever buy an Acura product again.

I had the same problem with my Michelin. After three visits to fix the problem (with the usual "the problem is taken care of, sir" only to drive home to find that that problem was till there), the dealer finally contacted Acura and they sent me to the local Michelin dealer where they were able to find the bad tire and they replaced it.

Michelin first wanted to pro-rate the tire ware and tried to charge me $80 but I refused to pay a dime since the problem had been there since the car was new. They ended agreeing with me.

I am suprised to hear that the problem also exists with Michelin tires. All the posts I read had to do with the Goodyear tires on the base MDX. Anyway, I am glad you got your problem resolved.

Sorry to hear about the problems with the tires. It amazes me to believe any dealer especially Acura would put a customer thru that kind of headache instead of just replacing the parts. If they are under warranty the dealer does not lose the money, it would be a chargeback to the factory or Goodyear. (Hopefully not Michelin because I have them , and no pulling detected for 8000+ miles)

It sounds like from what the dealer told me, that they would be absorbing the cost since Acura does not cover tires. I think it is a bunch of BS and they are going to loose a lot of customers over such issues.
