| I'm looking for rewards card for airplane tickets. Next year i'm expecting a lot of travel and buying tickets for my parents too. Right now I have the citibank master card platinum which just gives a rebate. I'm considered the United Airlines Visa which gives mileage but has an annual fee. There's a commercial on tv that the guy says he gets points for buying his ticket and his friends ticket too but cant remember the name of that card. I have very good credit. Thanks for any recs. |

It depends on where you live and how much you fly. Many times you accumulate miles only to find out they're really difficult to use. And if you spend 3 years paying annual fees to do it, it might not make sense.
My wife used to have her annual fee paid by her employer and since she was a good customer, the airline made it easy for her to redeem miles or rulebust because she had a ridiculous amount of miles banked.
For us it's making more sense to find a cheap airfare to most destinations and save the miles for longer trips or short notice travel. It pays to Discover. :) I think they have a miles program too.
My father in law signed up for a pretty good one through Frontier. He flies to a few of their destinations so it made sense. |

This is the key concern. I really cannot tell you how to select a card, but try to get one that has the fewest restrictions. You can probably only find this out be extensive research.
I know that our American Express Platinum Skymiles has restrictions. So far these restrictions have not been imprenatrable but bothersome.
Whether or not you pay a fee for the card is probably not a critical criterea. Sometimes the fee is more than made up by extra benefits.

You really won't find that perfect card out there, however I have a AMEX Delta Skymiles Platinum just like George here and I have just learned how to work around the restrictions and blackout dates for extra reward miles. |

I used to have a Southwest Credit Card and it would give me miles for purchases and so on. But that depends on where you live and how often you would use it. I have a friend and I think she has a Citibank rewards card, where you can use points for air line tickets. She pays all of her bills with it and gets to fly free all the time.
