Well, in the middle of a heat wave in NYC, 101 degrees outside, and I turn on my MDX and guess what? NO A/C. The fan in the rear passenger compartment comes on but no A/C. No fan in the front.
I decide to drive to the dealer to try to get some help. Big mistake!!! No one at the dealership knows what the problem is. According to the mechanic who took a brief look at the vehicle, the fuses and the compressor seemed fine. (Don't know how he was able to tell this in 10 minutes.) The service manager's advise to me is to make an appointment for next week Tuesday when someone can really take the time to try to fix the problem.
So I get in my car and start the 30-mile drive to my house. Suddenly it starts to pour. I can't defog my windows because no A/C and I can't drive with the windows open because I 'd get soaked.
Finally the rain lets up and I drive home slowly with the windows partially down. The A/C comes on intermittently for 2-3 seconds at a time but then shuts down for 15 minutes or so. This continues for the entire hour trip home. Needless to say I am p..sed and clueless. First the thud then this.
Ideas anyone???      |

| Are you running the system in Full Auto or just Auto? I'd go and manually set the A/C (compressor) to ON and manually turn the Fan to a higher speed to see if that makes it work "constantly" rather than intermittently. You may have already tried this. Just a thought to maybe get you through until Tuesday. |

Thanks for the thought but it makes no difference what I do ,auto or full auto, low fan speed or high fan speed. |

It's broken.
Likely an electrical fault or component failure in Climate Cintrol unit. Be very happy this is a warranty repair because the control is a very expensive component.
Could also be result of too much or too little freon in the system...maybe you have a defective hose that let all the cool leak out of the car.
Either way, a repair necessary and it is time to find out just how good your delaer service department really is. |
