Picked up a new MDX a couple of weeks ago. Love the car - but will cover in a seperate post.
My issue is a strange problem with the radio. I noticed an icon on the navigation system with a speaker with a circle and a slash with the letters RR. I interprepted the icon to mean that the right rear speaker was out. The icon is on in the display section below the navigation system as well.
I noticed that the icon would come and go periodicly and that when the icon was there and I used the fader control - sure enough when I faded to the rear, there was no sound. However, when the icon was not present and I used the fader control, there was sound coming from the rear.
I thought that maybe there was a short in a speaker wire until yesterday I discovered that the icon is NOT there with XM1 and XM2, but the icon IS there for ALL the other inputs (modes)! The audio controls are set so that Rear Power and Front Source are on (green light on) and Rear Source and Rear Control/Off are off.
So, is this a bug, a feature or am I not understanding how the rear speakers work. It would be a strange feature to allow the rear speakers to only work with XM radio and noting else.
Thanks in advance for your help.

this feature allows the rear passengers to enjoy their own programming, separate from the front passengers. so, if you see that icon again, that means the rear power is on, and the rear passengers can now enjoy different audio/video from the front. it will mute the rear speakers, so that when you have the wireless headphones on, the speakers will not interfere. the rear control can be turned on/off as well (just as you described).
make sense? hope that helps |

s2k000L,
Thanks for your reply.
You are 100% correct. I turned off the rear power button and all is well - the radio performs as expected.

| when you have rear power on, press rear power button for 5 seconds and the rr/ icon will go off. i leave the rear power on so the kids in the back seat can control the audio system. |
