OK, I've scoured this site and others and can't seem to find a solution to my problem. I've been using the instructions that are all over the place (key from off (0) to on (II), hit lock or unlock on fob, turn off (0), repeat 3-4 times) but the locks never engage. I've tried tons of different troubleshooting methods I've seen people talk about on here and elsewhere;
1) Made sure all doors are shut and tried it - no dice.
2) For the heck of it, tried it with the driver side open - negative.
3) The instructions say something about pointing it at the passenger-side MCU - so, I pointed the fob at the driver door, dash behind the steering wheel, navigation/radio area, and the passenger door where the fuses are just to cover everywhere - no luck.
4) Tried removing the key after every time I siwitched to off (saw this on another forum where it worked for someone) - zip, zippo, nada.
5) Replaced the battery in the fob - nothing.
6) After switching to "On" (II), I tried hitting the lock or unlock button multiple times for the heck of it - didn't work either.
I've tried all of these methods with both the lock and unlock buttons on the fob. I've also tried it on both fobs (Mem1 and 2). Am I missing anything? Has anyone actually gotten this to work? It seems so simple - I feel like an idiot! But I feel like I've tried everything and my last step is the dealer (ugh...they glance at your car and its $100!). Any ideas? Is it really so picky that I need to know exactly where the MCU is? |

| Is this a new problem on an old vehicle, or did you acquire this MDX used and can't get the keyfobs to work? |

Drop me an email at hondacuraworld@aol.com and I'll send you the instructions if you don't already have them.
Usually takes me a couple of tries, too. |

..vehicle that I purchased that didn't come with key fobs. So, I called the dealer to get the appropriate fobs (FCC#'s matched) and bought a couple fobs. I keep wondering if there's something that maybe the previous owner did to disable it or something! Any ideas dj-mdx2?
kiwi - thanks, these are the exact steps I've tried but to no avail.
hondaacuraworld - I've got some instuctions that basically say the same thing kiwi posted and the info from the knowledgebase on this site. If you've got something else (or some hints, tips or tricks!) I'd really appreciate. I'll send you an email. |

You seem to be following the correct steps. I wonder if you have the correct set of keyfobs. I remember being unable to program my 2002 RL fobs to my 2001 MDX since some people have reported being able to cross-program different Honda models before. It was an impossible task - I tried hundreds of times with different positions as you did.
Only other thing I can think of is if you bought the fobs from an Acura dealer, then they can program them for you. |
