| I have the opportunity to purchase an 2001 MDX Touring Package from the local Acura Dealer. It has only 24000 miles and they are asking $20,500 for it. It has leather interior and tow bar etc. It looks in great condition and I am only concerned about the reliabliity history of the 2001. (Transmission etc.) Any help to let me know if this is a good deal would be appreciated! |

Is it 'certified' meaning thoroughly checked out and covered by a 7 year/100k bumper to bumper warranty?
I think there are better deals out there on 2003 models and newer (maybe slightly more expensive, but worth it given the HP, soundproofing and tranny replacements). But if you really want one from a dealer, it's a good deal given the mileage.
Personnally however, I would not sink that kind if money into an 01 or 02 given the tranny history. I would go for an 03 or newer and not buy through a dealer. You can always buy a warranty after the fact. |

| Thanks, it does have the 12 month warranty with it. I was just not sure about the year. It appears that the 2001, 2002 are questionable. We are looking for a lucury SUV I can drive for the next 8 years, my friend also has a 2004 BMW X5 for sale at $34000 I have the opportunity to buy from her. I liked the 3rd row of seats in the MDX though...its been a hard decision! Thanks for your help. |

| For close to 35K you can buy an 06 MDX and not worry about the tranny issues. |

| I will think about that one, problem is I am in Hawaii and getting MDX used Private Party is hard here! We have a short supply! I may have to go (gulp) through a dealer. |

I see you have a 2003 MDX, do you recommend this year? There is a 2003 Acura MDX Touring - $25,490 on offer in the classifieds and I would rather go towards $20k than $3o!
How has the 2003 performed. I did find the 2001 not as luxurious as I had thought it would feal! |

| OUr 2003 has performed flawlessly. We are currenty at 55k miles. I would definitely go for an '03 or newer. |
