I have on 04 MDX and lately have been getting a "mild roaring" sound more often from the rear brakes. It used to only happen after parking on inclines but I have noticed happening more often recently. I know they are disc brakes but to me the sound sounds like when drum brakes are starting to go out.
Has any else heard this from their MDX?
I have 57,xxx miles on the original rear pads and have had the front pads replaced already.
I would think if it were the pads then I would hear a high pitch tone from the wear indicators. |

I have an '02 with 53k on it and just replace my pads 2 weeks ago.
I started hearing a (high pitch) metal grinding noise in the rear while driving and especially during turns. I took it for a check and was told the rear pads were almost all gone. So I changed all 4 pads and the noise went away.
Not sure about your roaring noise however. Is it during driving, straight or turns? I would take it to have it inspected. |
