Driver door road noise - Click HERE for Original Thread

I started noticing this problem in the past couple of months.

Sitting at the driver's seat, the cabin noise seems very loud. Seems like I can hear most noise from outside. It's loud enough that I thought I had the left rear window wide open, but it's closed. In fact, all windows are shut tight. And when I'm next to an 18-wheeler, I can hear the noise from the engine of that truck so loud that it's almost no difference than leaving the driver's window open.

Another noise coming from the driver's door is that when going over bumps (even very small ones) I can hear some sort of rubber rubbing against rubber sound.

So I presume it's the weatherstripping in the door. However, I don't have any water leak problems at all.

Does anyone else have similar problems? Would weatherstripping make that much of a difference in filtering noise? How hard is it to change the weatherstripping?

thanks

I've always noticed a little more road noise from what seems like the bottom of the door. It's much more noticeable while in the left lane next to a concrete barrier median. I've never noticed the rubber on rubber sound. My noise probably isn't enough to complain about, but it's there.

I noticed this on my '04 X and fgured it out to be a loose driver-side mirror. I pulled the speaker off (in corner of window) and found two screws to tighten. That did the trick for me. Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll check the driver-side mirror. It's just strange that I hear the rubber-to-rubber sound too and that makes me think it's either the door being loose (I yanked the door and it seems tight) or the weatherstrip needs repair.
