On the 2+ hour drive home...

Pros
-Very comfortable ride
-Very stable
-Nice power ban

Cons:
-Navigation... turn-by-turn instructions not as good as Garmin, which provides audio instructions including the street name. You never really need to look at the map. The MDX Nav provides info Garmin doesn't, but I do miss the street names as part of the audio. Plus Garmin provided a faster route to the Interstate than the MDX Nav.
-Steering wheel sucks! IMHO it is very uncomfortable for a $45K vehicle.
-I can see what they mean when they say the dash trim reflects too much

The pros off-set the cons, but those little annoyances are so easy to address. IMHO Acura did not do their homework.

I sure do have a lot to learn about all the tech stuff!

The street name reading is the one thing I like about my Magellan over the TL unit. I thought street names could be said on the new systems. Anyone want to verify whether or not there is a setting?

You can control (via the Setup menu, I believe) how detailed the spoken directions are (i.e. read street names or no).

Also, there are routing preferences favoring more direct routes, freeways, etc. that you can change. But I can't say how well Acura's system works relative to Garmin's offerings, as I've never had the opportunity to use anything else.

You have the option of selecting "min," "normal," or "max" for voice prompts in the Setup menu. If you select "max" the voice prompts will include the street names during audio prompts.

My only frustration came when trying to enter in my "current location" to identify my "home" address (for the selection of "go home" on the main menu). I live in a new development, where the streets have not been dedicated yet. Subsequently the satellites are not registering them. While I can leave the bread crumbs behind during exploratory driving, I cannot identify my home address as a mere latitude/longitude coordinate. Thus I had to pick a spot around 1/2 mile away where the road is dedicated already, to call my "home" at least for now.

Not a big deal - it's just humorous when my car wants me to take the "nearest possible U-turn" to go back to the spot I just passed on the last 1/2 mile leg to my home.

It appears that I'm at least two years away from living on a dedicated street, so I guess I'll just need to wait for a dvd upgrade to properly enter in my home address.

Thanks!

I have been reading the manual tonight...there is SO MUCH to learn!

Believe it or not some people prefer to that. This way if your car is ever stolen they can't pull up to your house.

This correct and I lear this on this forum. We have NAVY unit in two of our cars and both programmed to near by street not exisitng house number. When you have you garage door opener programm to your garage door + navy :go home: button - not a good combination.

I have the 4 digit PIN activated, which is a pain everytime I go to use the system, but at least prevents direct programming to "home" or anywhere else in my address book. And I can guarantee is not the simple 1-2-3-4 my dealer used during my salesday demo. ;)

It is recommended to program something close to your house as home so it gets you there but won't lead any car thiefs to your house should they steal your vehicle.

I guess this is one extra security step, but in the 07, as mentioned above, you can protect home with a PIN. I have a hoot using voice activation to use the Go Home feature, as my house is finally on the map.

I haven't seen any here in NYC in the Dark Cherry color. How do you like it? What color is the interior? I agree with the comment about the steering wheel being a little uncomfortable in the way it feels (not the positioning of it). Not a show-stopper of course. Also, I really feel the down-shift of the automatic transmission when coming to a stop -- but I think that's fairly common in "Japanese" cars -- and until I got this Acura, my other cars were all "American" (a Ford Explorer before this). I was also told it's part of the "braking assist" feature of the MDX. I was given an incredible demo and this vehicle can stop on a dime.

He needs another Corvette occupying the HOV lane in order to do that. :D

Shamefully, I may have hit the 120 mph mark today. And before I get flamed, there was nobody in front of me on the Interstate and I had good cause. Accelerating between 80 to 100 was a breeze but 100 to 120 took a while longer and I guess the limiter kicked in at 120. Felt good though, especially while listening to the rocking ELS system playing the DVD-A version of Get Back by the Beatles.
