Where are the 07 Xs? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am thinking about a '07 to replace my '02 (85,000+ miles). Recently, I noticed that I do not see many '07 on the road. I lived in So Cal and I see a lot of "older" Xs but have only seen three '07s on the road, since they been on sale. I have visited four local dealers and they all say they are "flying" out the doors. But I have noticed that I have seen anywhere from 12 to 22 on the lot.

In my search for a '07, one dealer said only $500 off msrp (two weeks ago); now I am finding $1,000 over invoice. Why are they not selling, since the great reviews????? If I wait until mid-year, I think I'll be able to find one for invoice or under. Just like what happened to the 2005 RL ( I have one those too). Does anyone else out there think this might be ture?

I picked mine up in Atlanta today. During the round trip, ~5 hrs, I did not see one. The salesman said they sold 11 during the last 7 days...I don't know where they went???

BTW I received a quote from a dealer in PA...$3400 below MSRP. I didn't want to travel, and bought mine in ATL for $2600 below MSRP.

I've spotted three in my neighborhood since we bought ours in mid December. I Think they will start showing up. Acura sold 6200 or so in December, and 5500 or so in November. Its going to take a while at that rate for them to become a significant part of the car population.

I parked my steel blue X next to a billet silver X yesterday while at the post office. As I was getting out of the car the owner of the silver version, an attractive and personable young woman greeted me rather cheerfully, as if she knew me already - even though I know our paths have not crossed in the past.

Now I'm happily married, so it's not like I could even do anything about the friendly conversation, but I thought "man, if this is how MDX owners communicate with each other, that's not too bad!"

I've seen a few other '07s out there. I think most are keeping them under the protection of their garages during the winter months.

I bought my back in late November. I have not seen any X around my neighborhood AT ALL. :creep: However, I did saw 4 Xs on my way up to the Big Bear Mountain last weekend. I guess all the new owner are busy having fun than going to work or hauling kids.:roadtrip:

This is what I am hoping. I am also hoping they can get some of the problems fixed (software wise). It's hard to tell right now if the sales numbers will hold or not. I think the RL had great sales numbers in 05 but slowed way down by March of that year. I am not saying that will happen to the MDX. There is a lot more competition now than when the first gen was released. A testament to that is the great deals we are already seeing. You really didn't see deals like this until the 3rd model year on the first gens. I think by the end of February we will have a pretty good idea if this car is just in a honeymoon period or if it will be another good seller for Acura.

I just got a call last night from a dealer....................$500 over invoice.......................26 in stock.

Amen to that! i haven't seen many on the road as well. in the past 3 months, i've seen maybe a total of 10 on the road in various cities up and down the coast. it will take some time for the 2nd gen to catch up to the number of 1st gen MDX's out there. otherwise, my X is in stable--away from malcontents!

IMHO, even amidst growing competition, the MDX has so much more to offer, albeit at a price premium. but, when you look at 'bang-for-your-buck', acura is a sure winner! :D

It's actually been kinda nice standing out in the crowd. I've seen a lot of 2nd looks going on, including a few from earlier MDX model owners. It's one thing to keep up with the new designs via the Internet - it's another thing to see them up close and personally.

When my wife and I bought the first gen back in 2002, we didn't see many; but by 2004, quite a different story.

I like the understated presence of owning an Acura versus a BMW. This car, SUV or truck (whatever you want to call it) rocks. Tremendous legroom (the real reason I traded as I am 6"5").

I am the only driver, no kids, no pets, it is just a luxury to have so much space. Yes, I do let my wife ride in it to.:p

I commute across town 54 miles round trip every day and finally saw my first 07 about 2 miles from my house. Lots and lots of brand new 06+ Pilots though.

I agree, I haven't seen many new X's on the road at all. There is a white one that lives in my area that I've seen a couple of times, but that's about it. I am waiting on the dealer to come off the MSRP price myself and he keeps calling and I keep saying no. :)

wiz,
How far are you from Atlanta? See the second post in this thread.:4:

I have yet to see an 07 on the road. And I have only seen 1 RDX.:(

I'm in the burbs in northeast Atlanta. I had been dealing with Jackson Acura, but I'm not a huge fan of the salesman there. Acura Carland is the closest to me, but the guy that always recognizes me when I walk in there talks up the MDX like he can sell it for more than sticker and I think he doesn't take me seriously.

I wish my salesman at Ed Voyles (where I bought my '04 TSX) was still there (he's in the service department now) as he went above and beyond the duty to find me a good deal. He kept at it for a week and found me 3.79% financing from a credit union and gave me more for my trade-in since the TSX was new and he couldn't give it to me for more than about $1000 off MSRP at the time.

So if anybody knows of any good dealing salesmen in the northeast Atlanta area, I'm all ears.

That, and I have to convince the wife that we need to get rid of my manual TSX that she can't drive and get the MDX. :)

Wiz- I bought mine at Nalley Acura in Marietta. They were helpful in most aspects. They were willing to ship a car in since they did not have a tech pkg on the lot in my first color choice. They were willing to deal on accessories (at least better than I figured they would). The money part was not as fun though. They were not the easiest people to negotiate with. I was there for two hours before I walked out, and a couple of days later my wife and I were there for three hours before we finally closed the deal. You must be willing to "wait it out."

Just thought I would pass my info along. Overall I would say that Nalley was ok to deal with. Just ignore the salesman babble about paying MSRP

Yeah, that's basically what I have done with Jackson Acura. I had them willing to give me $16,000 for my TSX (which is what I wanted for it since it has 61k+ miles on it) but they wouldn't budge off of the MSRP price. They actually had the Steel Blue Base MDX on the lot that we wanted, and I think it's still there 3 weeks later, but so far they are not backing off. I have to wait until my wife is completely ready though before I go in there playing real hardball. That way if they make the deal that I am satisfied with, I will be able to take it.

wiz,
You may know this but a good buying strategy is to negotiate the price of the new car BEFORE even talking about a trade. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I actually tried that first but they were not coming off MSRP. I guess I look too young to them to buy a $40k vehicle, I dunno. So I had them appraise my car just to see how much they would give me for it, which they lowballed me on, but I finally got them to the amount I think it's worth.

I'll go back with more of a strategy when my wife is 100% on board with a new car purchase. I thought she was before, but when we couldn't get the numbers where we wanted them she kind of got hesitant. I'll just have to work on her some more. :1:

Thanks for all the help and advice to everyone.

Good luck and keep us updated. I have a 45K number for sport/ent package. I'm not sure if that is doable right now, but I will probably wait til April/May and see what prices are doing. Invoice would be really nice!:D

Yeah, Invoice would be really nice and that is what I almost always shoot for. I am also saving a little up to put some more down so that I won't have to finance as much also, however that is just a perk since I am waiting for the price to go down on it. I'll be sure to keep you all posted (now that I found my registration info for this board).

To get back to the TOPIC: I drove down to Long Beach over the Christmas holidays. I didn't see ONE on the way down but on the return trip I counted 15 2007 MDX's headed South from the Bay area......their out there.......

We live in the burb's of Portland , Oregon and I have seen a few over the past few days. The first gen MDX is EVERYWHERE around here and since I got my MDX (begining of Dec) I hadn't seen any until about a week ago. Now I have seen 4 in one week. They are definitly starting to put up around here.

Man, you should have struck up a coversation and clued her in on this site!

I've been seeing quite a few in SoCal. I think they are starting to enter the market. I couldn't even test drive one until late November, so it's only been a few months.

Great mystery. Where are all the 07s? I've yet to spot a single new MDX.

In Vegas, I have seen just one 07 X on the road, but there sure are a lot of them at the dealer! We're gonna get another Acura dealer in town sometime this year, so maybe with a leetle bit of competition we may see more 07 X's, hell more Acuras even, on the road eventually. Like a few other folks have mentioned, I think it's pretty cool that there are comparatively fewer Acura's than any other "luxury" (or whatever you want to call them) vehicles running around. Lexus's are a dime a dozen and Beemers and MBs are so "wonderful" until the electrical/mechanical problems kick in.
phins2rt
Saw my first one on the road today! Formal black. Also saw my second RDX.
BostonX
I see one almost every other day around here. I see fewer RDX's (not surprisingly).
It reminds me of the early days of the first generation when I'd be lucky to see one a week. These days you can't swing a stick without hitting an old one (or a Pilot, for that matter)!

Over the last five weeks I have racked up 2500 miles on my new MDX. While driving mostly in and around central NJ and the NYC metro area, I have seen a grand total of 4 MDX’s on the road! Not even one a week!

But I have to admit that I get a kick out of watching people quickly turn their heads and stare at my X as I drive by.

I've seen about 5 or 6 on the road and one ends up behind my wife on her way to work every day or so. There are 2 in my neighborhood (not counting mine). :-)

I have to agree w/ the head turns. My wife heard a guy, today, say "I've never seen a Acura like that."
crazymjb
Our local dealer has 95 on the lot(number keeps going up), yet they still aren't giving us the lowest price, claiming fast sales.

I can name every one I have seen.
-1(silver) at a local intersection (ward and center)
-1(black)parked where a 1g MDX used to always be parked (com ave)
-1(black)parked at the USMC museum in VA
-1(gray)Driving down a road in DC

However, I still haven't seen one in the most important place, my driveway :(

UPDATE: Today I spotted another one -- my fifth in 5 weeks! -- pearl white/parchment with lots of accessories including front and rear garnishes. Sweet!

I see almost daily a new MDX here...

Actually I went skiing Saturday first time with the MDX. When I returned I noticed another MDX parked 2 cars away with exact same color from the same dealer!

There you go again … more weather reports from California! It’s currently 11° here, but a heat wave is coming: it will be 35° tomorrow!

Saw two MDX’s in the last couple of days: a nimbus gray X in downtown Trenton and an aberdeen green X (very nice!) in Princeton. That’s a total of 6 in the past two months!
SullyC5er
I drove from SC to FL. Went from Daytona to Orlando to Tampa. In the entire trip I did not see one '07 MDX. But I had ~8 SUV's wanting to race the Corvette.
justG0
I am starting to see quite a bit of 07 MDXs in the Seattle suburbs (Eastside). Today I saw 3 Nimbus Gray in a span of 10 minutes of driving - including mine that amounts to 4 Nimbus Gray MDXs within 3 miles.
