| I have 102,000 kms(63750 miles) and the Acura dealership recommended to have my plugs changed. Is this price reasonable? Also, can I check my brake pads without removing the wheels? They are charging $40 to inspect the pads. I just had the pads on 4 wheels replaced last year. I see some users saying that their pads lasted till 80,000 miles. Also, do you really feel the difference when you change the plugs? |

The manual recommends spark plugs be changed at 100,000 miles, not km, IIRC. Of course, you can replace them earlier, but why would you. Some have reported a return of the "preppiness" of the engine after replacement, but I haven't noticed this on my 2001. The price seems reasonable, but I actually replaced them myself using iridium plugs per manual specs and saved at least $100. In retrospect, though, I probably will not do it again, as it required obtaining tools that I did not have and took some time, especially since I don't claim to be mechanically adept.
As for the brake pads, if you had them changed within a year, why bother changing them? Am not absolutely sure you can gauge the thickness without removing the wheels, but any reputable shop can do it for less. The one that changed it for you can probably check it for free or discounted since that's where you had it done.
I think the dealer is just trying to milk you.
Good luck! |
