Where to buy Acura genuine fluid (Online)
Now it is time to do 15k miles service for my 04 X. So, is there any good online-seller of genuine acura VTM-4 & ATF fluid ? (and differential fluid also)?
I'm a bit lazy to stop by local dealer (well, rather, I am tired of visiting there and only find out they do not have enough quantity to sell me... I usually buy cases....)
Questions are,
1. Is Honda ATF & VTM-4 fluid completely identical to Acura ATF & VTM-4 fluid. Right?
When I buy a case of coolant for my Acura's (MDX, legend) in local dealer last year, they change the label of the bottle... there was a big "Acura" mark on the coolant jugs... I remember it used to have label of "Honda"....
2. Any place to buy "Crush washers" Online?? I mean is there any bulk deal?.... I just want to buy enough quantity at once...
3. Do we need to use Honda (or Acura) Genuine differential fluid?
Thank you |

1. Yes, it's identical. I've only ever seen the fluids labeled as Honda, and I've found that most of the Honda dealerships are cheaper than the Acura ones when it comes to supplies like this. I just picked up a case of the Z1 ATF fluid from my local Honda dealership for $5.46/quart. They were selling it for something like $7.25/quart but the parts guy gave me a deal because I bought a whole case. Same holds true for the VTM-4 fluid--cheaper at the Honda dealership.
2. Crush washers are ridiculously expensive. I actually had Tim price some out for me at his dealership and he really couldn't save me that much, so again, go to a Honda dealership. The Ridgeline has the same exact powertrain so it uses the same crush washers, and the Pilot also uses some of them, so they definitely have them. Just try talking to the parts guy and see what they can do for you.
3. Diff fluid can be generic. I went with Valvoline. Just make sure you get one of those hand pumps from Napa, because it makes all of the fluid changes very easy. |

They've got a lot of stuff, but the prices aren't that great, when you factor in the shipping cost. Most of the parts/fluids are cheaper at my local Honda dealership. |

Why would you want the bother of ordering ACURA fluids online? Unless you live way out in the boonies where you have no stores. Either go to your dealer or to the nearest Auto Parts house. The auto parts stores have identical or better for all of the items that you would need.

That may be true. Without sounding like a "safe sex" admonition, an owner is free to put whatever fluids he/she chooses in his/her MDX. Owners that are concerned about Acura warranty relief when it comes to the transmission, cooling system, and VTM would most likely want to stay with OEM Acura fluids when servicing their rides. |

I agree with EXCALIBUR, stay with the OEM fluids for the tranny, cooling, and VTM! |

I bought from these guys and was happy with it. They are in the Dallas area so shipping to the midwest was ok. They included washers too.

I also got VTM and tranny fluid in one order to cut shipping.
Before our christmas trip I serviced the tranny and rear on my MDX. My MDX is largely driven by my wife with lots of highway miles. The fluid was red and nothing on the plug magnet. That was after about 30k miles. The tranny was in pretty good shape too, but had some shavings on the plug as should be expected.
What it really told me is that the rear of an MDX does very little with most drivers. |

What substitute is there for Honda VTM-4 fluid? I am unaware of any suitable substitute available at an auto parts store (from Valvoline, Castrol, Chevron, etc.). I have heard that several ATF fluids claim compatibility with Honda ATF-Z1, but have heard of nothing that claims it can replace VTM-4 fluid.
Is this Colton talking out of his ass again? |

| There is absolutely no substitute for VTM-4 fluid. |

I don't want to bring this up again.
But, based on my 10+ years of owning and servicing multiple honda/acura's, there seems no substitute even ATF also. I can not justify it with any professional terms, but just based on my experience with my honda/acura's, I had to stick to Honda ATF. |
