Does anyone know if it's possible to change the DRL bulbs to HID? i want the DRL's to match the HEadlights, so that at night when you look at the car it's all 4 HID's? any ideas? thanks

Conversion to HIDs require a complete kit, not just a bulb change. The kit includes a wiring harness, HID bulbs (mounted in the appropriate base), and individual ballasts, which supply the high voltage necessary to light off and sustain the HID bulbs.

There are several manufactures of high performance halogen and xenon gas incandescence bulbs (Sylvania SilverStars, for example). These usually amount to a simple bulb swap. An incandescence bulb is probably a more appropriate upgrade, rather than going the HID route for DRLs.

I can get incandescence bulbs at auto parts stores right? how about the foglights? how do i convert them into hid's? i want the fogs and the headlights to match. I heard silverstars are good, as well as piaa. which is better in your opinion? thanks for the help again

I would definitely just find a bulb that fits the light you want to change (whether it is DRL or fogs) that is a white light instead of yellowish. This will give you the look of all HID from all of your lights. You could also try going with a yellow bulb for the fogs to give you the European look as Yellow light does work well in actual fog.

PIAA is a good brand, but a little more expensive. Silverstars are good too...I believe that is what I had in my Grand Prix when I replaced my head lights and they put out some nice light.

Wouldn't the DRLs be off when the low beams are on? Or do the DRLs stay on ALL the time regardless of what other lights (highs, lows, fogs) are on?

I checked this out when I test drove the MDX. The DRL's (right next to the fogs below the bumper) come on as soon as you turn the MDX on. When you turn on the low beam HID's the DRL's go off. IF you turn on the high beams the fog lights go off so just the HID's and the High Beams are on.

www.hoen-usa.com (I believe) have some well regarded bulbs that members from here have purchased. Do a search on Hoen for more info.

wiz,
That's what I thought. So you wouldn't need to match the DRLs if you didn't want to since they are never on with any other lights. Thanks for clearing that up.

thanks for the info phil. will look into that.

Exactly...the DRL's are only on by themselves and are never on with any other lights, so if they are a different color (they are a bit yellowish) then it really doesn't matter. If you want to change the color of any lights I would shoot for just the fogs as they are the ones that will get the most use with the HID's and should match or be completely yellow IMHO to look right.

I actually bought these pair of Luminics JDM Yellow bulbs last week for my 07 MDX (fog lights)

For the price, the bulbs are incredible!! Super yellow!! Comparable to those PIAA yellow ion bulbs for 3 times the price. Totally overpriced!

I highly recommend it. Plus, the DRAW Wattage is 55W for these bulbs, which is what you want. I will see if I can get pics of posted up this week.

I am planning to get those Luminics Ultra Violet for the DRL. It is extremely hard to find them in 9005... :(

I acutally bought the Lunmics Yellow H11 (bulb type) at:

http://www.automotivelightingusa.co...products_id=986

The shipping and handling was a bit cheaper here than most places. I found this place to be the cheapest at $26.99 US. They box it up pretty good during shipping.

The reason why I chose these bulbs is because the actual drawn wattage is the same as stock. To be on the safe side, 55W is stock, anything over might cause problems.

Keep in mind these are the outter bulbs of your bottom light unit. I found it a bit tricky to install. The manual said you have to take out 3 screws, which I found a b*tch to take out and put back in. The hardest part is to reach under and pull out the bulb connectors. Putting the new bulb back and making sure not to touch the bulb can be a bit of a challenage.

I will get some pics out tonight!

Luminics Yellow, fog lights. My digital camera doesn't show much yellow, however, it's really yellow!
