The Technology & Sport Pkgs are worth the $$$. This vehicle is awesome!!! All the bells & whistles in the Tech Pkg are very cool. I am on the phone a lot because of job...the HandsFree part is a big help and much safer than playing with my cell.

I already have my Tuner working on something. ;) But it's a lot easier to find mods for the Vette than for the MDX!
The Vette is very fast, especially when I run 112 Octane. I had a guy at the track running a modified M3 (~500 HP) come over to me and say, "You past me so fast that I thought my engine was losing power." |

I'd be scared to modify the engine on the MDX. It's a new engine first of all (although heavily based on the 3.5 liter) and the transmission probably can't handle much more power.
Either way, glad you are happy w/ your MDX. I can't wait to trade in my Pilot! :) |

Sully,
How do you find the navi compared to your handhelds? I've used numerous handhelds as well as sat navs in many other cars; still think the one in the Acura is the best. Your thoughts? |

I agree. At first I didn't think that it was as good as the Garmin Nuvi 660, but I did not know about the settings for the Acura Nav. I switched it to the Max setting and it is better than the Garmin, with a lot more info, and it pronounces the street names correctly. Plus I get to say "Go Home"...which is pretty cool! |

Absolutely. I will not touch it until my tuner is positive that he can be effective. He is very conservative, so I know he will not take chances. |

I think Acura has covered their ass with regards to the cooling of the transmission! Two test mules:
Honda Ridgeline and the 2005 Acura RL (with regards to sport shift option) so I think the 07 MDX is good to "push" on twisties.....if you are concerned just keep an eye on the transmission fluid...besides they wouldn't mention "spirited driving" on the CD provided with the vehicle.....Sully: did you play that CD provided to you that makes you aware of all the goodies the Salesman are clueless about??????
I've bought Honda's since 1984 and Acura's since 2001. I learned to buy the one they NEVER seem to get to the sales floor or their lot.......Always get the "sport" edition if applicable............:1: :1: :1:
Enjoy your ride and keep us posted with any mods in the works....;)
My 2001 CL Type S was a time bomb......BAD design in the transmission which plaqued many models back then.....but she was quite fast as stock (6.0 0-60) but the transmission was a dangerous time bomb.... it failed at 74,000 granny california miles.... |

Not yet. The day after I picked up the MDX I went to Chicgo for a few days, so now I am trying to learn as much as possible this week. Its funny you said "the goodies the Salesman are clueless about." When we were discussing the Sport Pkg and he listed the differences, I told him that he forgot to mention that stabilizer bars are larger...he said, "They are?" |

The CD provides helps so one can comprehend the 467 page manual!
Most car salesman are clueless! He/She was probably clueless as to what a stabalizer bar is in the first place and doesn't care.....on to the next customer.......:o |

Everyone knows that the stabalizer bar is where you head to drink away the reality of another $50K in debt you just incurred! :7: |

Sorry to hear your CL-S was one of the 'bad' ones... I still have my '03 CL-S 6MT, it's an animal! The manual tranny makes all the diff in the world on this car - it's been 100% flawless. A few months back I surprised a new Caddy CTS-V who thought he was hot stuff... Luckily I'm packing a couple of Comptech mods
As long as I have the CL-S, there's no need to try to squeeze more out of my MDX Sport. I was actually surprised that the MDX Sport handles so good. While no CL-S, it's better than most cars and every SUV I have driven - including the '07 BMW X5 sport model. |

Half of the threads over at odyclub.com seem to be about failed transmissions. Honda's customer service must be good, or this would have hurt their rep by now.
Good to hear how much you like the Sport. Given your other cars, the Sport seems like a no-brainer. |

I wouldn't't touch a Honda/Acura from:
1998 to 2003 as they all have potential transmission design flaw's....
Models specifically:
All V6 auto's both Honda and Acura from 1998 to 2003 (Accords, Odd, CL's, TL's and MDX's) as they are all plagued with a design flaw.....just my 2 cents as I was a victim twice (1998 Honda Accord V6-EX Coupe and a 2001 Acura CL Type S). Both failed between 74,000 and 78,000 precious babied california miles and yes they were both serviced 'BY THE BOOK" SAME DEALERSHIPS AND THEY BOTH CRAPPED OUT ! They are lucky I'm still buying their product, but I think a $68 million dollar recall taught HONDA CORPORATION about stretching metal lesson or two.......the saga continues these days and they are paying for it......:1: |

Fabvsix: your post reminds me of my 03 Accord V6 6 speed.... I miss those days.
My 2003 Accord V6 6 Speed.
Black is so HARD to take care of. :( |

Did Honda pick up the cost each time, or did you get stuck with the bill? |

With my recent purchase of the Sport MDX I've entered the Honda/Acura family for the first time, but still remain loyal to the Toyota family - my other two vehicles. One of the reasons for my loyalty to them is their loyalty to me. With both '00 cars, Toyota recognized a design flaw with their V6s, which led to oil gel'ing. In both cases, Toyota rebuilt my engines, even after my warranty was long over - no questions asked. I'll stand by a company that stand by me. Hoping Acura is equally as loyal - and also hoping I never need to see that loyalty with my new X. |

I think it has a lot to do with the dealer. I have had bad expereinces with Lexus standing behind the RX330. |

Concord Honda: Honda paid for the replacement under goodwill for my 1998 Honda Accord EXV6 Coupe @78,000 miles
Acura of Pleasanton: Acura paid for the replacement under goodwill for my 2001 Acura CL Type S @ 74,000 miles
I even got Honda to pay for my parents 1997 Honda Accord transmission that bit the dust at "27,000 miles" at over 6 years old! I got it replaced at free of charge and had the service rep FIRED ! He fooked with the wrong folks.......:1: |
