Randomly keeps asking for radio code - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi guys,

I just got my MDX back from the shop after a nasty little ice-related accident. While they were doing body work, they forgot to disconnect the battery, and well, drained it.

They attempted to charge the battery and give the vehicle back, but after almost every shutdown/restart, it would ask for the code. I told them to replace the battery, which they did, and the problem seemed to go away... or so I thought.

The other day, it asked for the code again. It seems completely random now, and can happen 1-2 times a week. Since the battery is new, what could be causing this?

I dont think it had anything to do with the accident, as it was body damage only... any ideas?

Thanks!

There is a wire supplying a constant 12V to the Radio. I think this wire probably got nicked (or the fuse came loose) and now you are losing power there intermittently. I would think it has to do with the impact at the time of the accident.

Thanks for the reply!

Do you know where this wire is? Or where the fuse is? I have an 02 MDX...

The accident was not very jarring - Basically I ran off an icy road and went through a barb wire fence, taking out some of the steel posts as well. Enough to do some nasty sheet metal damage, and enough to warrant the rear end suspension to be replaced (some parts were binded and bent from going through the ditch). I would think that there would be very small chance that a wire got nicked... But the fuse sounds more probable. If I can find it, Ill check it out.

Thanks!
