Hey gang, long time no talk! It's been about 4 years since I bought my '03 MDX and my '03 Murano and now it's time to get rid of those old hags!
I'm looking to get the '07 MDX with Tech/Sport package, an Acura TSX/TL and a Honda CRV EX-L NAV.
Yes, all three.
In those categories, is there anything you can recommend? Any alternatives? Also, what can I expect in terms of pricing/availability? I've been really out of the loop for the past year or two and would love if someone can fill me in. Are we still paying MSRP? I'm leaning more towards leasing because I don't want to keep my cars for more than 3 years. I realize this now after buying 5 cars that are sitting in my driveway!!!
So, let's have at it.
Convince me to get something else (I'm talking about the TL and CRV) and reasons why. And if you have those cars, tell me what you love about them!
It's good to be back, and this '07 is oh so sexy. |

Just picked up a new 2007 TL last week to replace our again 2000 TL. The car is sweet and a bit smaller than our previous generation TL. Things I like are XM, Bluetooth and a nice big navi screen with more voice options then our previous TL or my MDX. Only about 200 miles so far so I can't comment on too much but it does have a nice punch and looks sporty. We did not go for the Type S since neither of us liked the looks and we didn't want to spend the extra cash.
We are a 3 Acura family now! |

2007 MDX Sport Entertainment: Can't say enough good things about it.....Its a winner!
2007 RDX: Turbo Terror. What I don't like about it is the stiff ride, loud engine, not so good gas mileage when compared to its big brother the MDX and high price (you can get a base model MDX for a grand more)! CRV is probably a better deal.
LOVE the Turbo and 240 hp 4 cylinder DOHC high performance engine mated with the smooth transmission. Handling is superb and feels almost like a 50/50 balanced vehicle. Has potential but remains unknown whether it would stay in production..Sound system is 410 watt ELS system that will blow the roof off so you can drown out the Turbo spooler noise.......
They gave me an 06 TL loaner and I was quite impressed with it as well but just reminded me too much of a dressed up Accord, not performance wise however......The TL is NO slouch........
No interest or experience with the TSX other than it was all engine noise to make you think it was hauling a$$. It's just an Accord with an Acura badge in my opinion...
Welcome back ! |

I paid $2600 below MSRP for the MDX, but have seen pricing in PA/NJ at $3600 below...don't know about OH. I really like the MDX w/Sport Pkg. |

| Just leased an 07 TL w/nav. Great car, the best I have ever driven. Quiet, powerful, and comfortable. The TL type S doesn't appeal to me. Since we have only one dealer in Vegas (soon to have another, but no one knows when), anything off MSRP is considered doing well around here for new models. I was able to get $1,000 off MSRP, free tinting, cargo tray, and lots of goodies such as key chains, mugs, etc., they gave us free. No down payment makes the payments higher but you should never put a down on a lease. Check the threads on leasing out and you'll see why. Better to keep the money in your pocket. |

I am probably going to buy the CRV because my daughter can then take it to college once she graduates highschool. Nice, dependable, safe, SUV that I can have piece of mind with!
The '07 MDX, I'm really debating whether to buy or lease. I think I'm going to keep my '03 MDX, give that to my son, trade in his Infiniti QX4 and our Mitsubishi Diamante which just sits around. I will probably also trade in our Nissan Murano. Hmm... This is so complicated!
I will DEFINITELY lease the sedan with NO money down! Ayanomich, you're right, leasing with 0 down is the best option, and that is what I've always done when leasing cars. I got a quote for 391 a month for the TSX and 491 for the TL with no money down. Are these fair market representations? Is there any chance I would be able to work with these numbers?
My sales rep is looking into the MDX price  . He is the son of the owner at Motorcars Acura in Cleveland so he better look hard.
Thanks guys! Anymore suggestions? Keep 'em coming! |

The MDX Sport is the way to go if you're getting an 07. Forget about the base and the Tech unless price is an issue. People are reportedly getting up to $3000 off MSRP so YMMV.
TSX - Blah driving experience when I had it for an all-day loaner. It's smallish and nimble but not all that sporty and definitely handles worse than the 07 MDX if you can believe that. Might as well get an Accord NAV EX-L.
The C-RV looks good in person and for once, has NAV and leather available, but the only issue is the underwhelming number of horses under the hood. It may be good for a daily driver if you're fuel-economy-conscious. Had they put in 80 more HP and a V6, it may have been a contender, and a RAV
competitor. But then again it might have stolen even more sales from the faltering RDX.
As for the TL, if you can wait, the 09 TL will have more power and maybe get the SH-AWD, from what I've heard. It's very sporty and sleek and will hopefully have the bugs worked out by hten.
Personally, I can't wait for the Lexus version of the RAV. From what I understand it's gonna be an X3 and RDX killer. |

$491 for the TL w/NAV without a down payment sounds right on based on what Honda is offering during their special lease program until February. The lease offer only mentions the base TL but the offer is good for the NAV also. I think my dealer wanted $399 with $4,100 down which included first month payment and Honda acquisition fee of $595. So without the down, my payments are $487 a month plus tax for 36 months with a money factor of .0013 which equates to 3.12% interest rate.
Agree with dj-mdx2, I test drove the 07 TSX before I bought the TL. Smallish and too much road noise, that's why I got rid of my 06 RSX. If you decide on a TL, go for it now, after three years you could then check out the redesigned model. Good luck! |

| Just got a call back from my guy at the dealership. He doesn't seem to keen on negotiating a deal. I am very pissed off. I might even go to Columbus to buy this car, Lindsay Acura, have heard very good things about them. |

It would be better ot my knowledge to trade in the 03 mdx to avoid any future transsmission issues, let your son keep his QX and trade in the mitsu that sits around. |

Depending on what you can work out I would take an RDX over a CR-V.
In terms of the TL, it is nice, we have an 05, but I would look into a redesigned 07 G35-X.

I love the suggestions guys! I am definitely looking into the 2007 G35x, but they are not discounting them or dealing them like they are dealing the TL. A major factor in our deal for the MDX is getting the TL as well, so we'll see.
The reason I want to keep the '03 MDX instead of the '02 QX4 is that the MDX has a warranty until 75,000 miles. We have 60,000 on both cars now. The 60,000 service for the Infiniti is $1200!! It also needs new exhaust pipes as they have corroded and there's a big hole in it now. I just don't want to put $2400 into a 5 year old car. That's why I'm going to trade it in. I bet you agree with me now!
As far as the transmission for the 2003 goes, if it goes out, I am ready to fight tooth and nail with Acura to replace/rebuild it for free. If people have gotten their 01s and 02s rebuilt, they surely should rebuild my 03. So far, knock on the Wood Grain Steering wheel, nothing has happened. 15,000 more miles, roughly, 1.5 years left on the warranty and we will most likely look to be trading it in.
Going into Acura of Cleveland tonight to broker a deal with the Steals Rep. He said 43,500 is his lowball number and he won't negotiate anymore for a Sport Black/Ebony. HAHAHAHAHA. Oh, he does not know what's coming to him!!
Will post back with my details and experience after tonight!! |
