| How do you get a dealer to stand behind these faulty transmissions that were put in the 2001 MDX's? We have now had 2 failed, each with 50,000 to 65,000 miles on them. The dealer (Ron Tonkin of Beaverton, OR) says Acura wont stand behind the faulty product? The 2nd one was installed in 2003, and was prior to a 2004 recall. Any advice?...other than, find a reputable Dealer????? thanks... |

So you have 115,000 miles on it now? The free replacement cutoff seems to be 100K miles. Your best bet would be to deal with Acura Corporate directly - they make the decision not the dealer. I'd push the fact that this is your second bad tranny and they will lose you as a customer if they don't offer a replacement or at least some reimbursement. |

Reputable dealers?
Dealerships exist to make a profit. Period end.
Dealerships generate revenue when they make repairs and receive payment from either the consumer on out of warranty or maintenance repairs or by Acura under factory warranty or recalls.
Dealerships do not stand behind anything that they cannot get paid on. Dealers want to generate service revenue and get paid. They know how far they can go with Acura and whether Acura will cover a repair or not. If they feel that Acura will financially cover a repair, they show the customer 'loyalty'.
Your concern is absolutely with Acura.
Of course, if your dealer felt that Acura would cover the expense of your repair, do you think they would let you out of their sight? They would schedule and repair your car immediately!
Sorry about your situation....
Best of luck with your dealings with Acura corporate offices. |
