my drivers side mirror has dried up waters spots all over it
what caused that? It was like that when i bought the car and really didnt bother me at first but now its kinda getting to me, at night ESPECIALLY!!
im thinking of replacing the glass but want to see if anyone knows how to get rid of the spots 1st
ive tried washing, windex, simple green...nothing works
what caused that...would using your heated mirrors in the rain cause that??
thanks for any help!! |

| I've had great success with a water/vinegar mix. I can not tell you the ratio because I just winged it, but I think you can easily stay less than 50% vinegar. |

Hey zman
thanks for the help...unfortunately it didnt work
I tried half water and a little bit less than half vinegar...no luck
so I tried 50/50...no luck
then I tried just straight vinegar...no luck
it weird...when I look into my mirror from my drivers seat at night when I see light hit my mirror I can see EVERY little water spot and they are purple looking so it really distorts my vision!!
any other ideas??
it looks as though the water spots are buned into the glass??? |

| It almost sounds like these may be on the reverse side of the glass. Have you tried a straight edge razor blade yet? If that doesn't do anything then I would doubt it was on the surface. |

Try baking soda and water in a cup.....or maybe even tooth paste...the old kind that is gritty.

| I used this to get what appeared to be dried soap spots off my windshield: Link. Nothing else I tried worked at all. It is essentially claybar in a spray form. |

Thanks everyone for the ideas
I'll try the mr. clean magic eraser..I just bought 1 to get some scuff marks off of our wood floors
if that doesnt work, I'll try the baking soda and toothpaste ideal
THX!!! |

Try claying the mirror, that helped me get the water spots off from the windows of my TL. |

I am willing to go out on a limb and say that this is the answer. With everything you have done I do not see how it is possible for the spots to be on the outside of the glass.
