Trouble getting Manik Side Steps - Click HERE for Original Thread

I've had the Manik SS side steps on order for about 6 weeks now. I ordered them from Ultimate Parts. I have followed up with Ultimate Parts wondering where the steps are. They said the ball is in Manik's court. Manik is supposed to ship directly to me.

Have others here had delivery problems from Manik or Ultimate? This is becoming a concern especially considering I have been billed already for side steps I have not received, nor can I get a delivery date for.

Should I put a dispute on my credit card for breach? I'm interested if others have had difficulty, or should I be trusting for a while longer.

Thanks!

MDX_Omaha,

I had a problem similar to that. I attempted to purchase Manik Polished Stainless Steel Side Steps from a local distributor in here in Atlanta (Sout East Hatch). They said they could save me the freight charges by having them added to their order (they put an order in about once per week) and having them shipped directly to SE Hatch. They indicated a two week ship time. Everytime I talked to the sales guy he always told me that stainess was tough to get from Manik, but he would call and they always had them in stock.

So I waited 2 weeks. Steps didn't come in. Waited another week. No steps. The salesman called Manik and somehow my steps kept getting pulled off SE Hatch's shipment. This went on for 5 or 6 weeks, and I finally cancelled the order (they never charged me) and bought a set from another .org member. I definately think Manik has fulfilment issues.

I'd definately call Manik to either get the steps sent (with a tracking number) tomorrow or make them credit your charge card. You only have 30 days from the charge to dispute the charge.

Just my 2 cents.

I called ultimateparts.com today he said wait is a month. Then called 800-500-2404( http://www.nordleth.com/ ) for the polished stainless steel, he said he will ship it today and I willl have it Friday. So you better call the number while they have one in stock. Price is 367.50 + 45 shipping. He asked me where I get the information and of course I said here in acuraMDX.

Thanks for the advice. I'm contacting Manik  right away. I'll post the outcome. --John

Manik does not answer their e-mail. I put the charge for the side steps I had on my credit card into dispute. It seemed like they were selling a quality product at one time, and the side steps definitely looked good on the MDX from what I have seen in this forum, but from my current experience, I could not recommend doing business with them.

MDX_Omaha,

I assume you've tried all of these e-mails for Manik:

E-mail Contacts:
General Information: info@manik.com
Sales: sales@manik.com
Technical Support: support@manik.com
Outlet Store: outlet@manik.com
Webmaster: webmaster@manik.com

If so, have you tried calling:

Customer Service: 1.800.457.7645
Corporate Offices: 323.869.2299
Corporate Fax: 323.869.2290
Technical Support: 1.800.987.8393

If so, I'd send a certified letter to the attention of the President of the company (If you could find out his name, it would be better than just saying "Office of the President") to both addresses below. Maybe someone here can find that out? Anyone?

In the letter, be VERY polite (if you're rude they'll write you off as a looney toon). Explain your story in great detail, how long you've waited, where you heard about the Manik Steps, that you put the charge in dispute because you didn't want the 30 day window to close, etc. Now here's the most important part. Include what you would like in order to be happy. A set of steps, free shipping, the cost reduced by $XX.xx dollars for your time and frustration. And mention, again politely, that you'll share your experience, good or bad, with the rest of the acuramdx.org community. Just a suggestion (stolen from Clark Howard, consumer advocate). The addresses are below:

AtlantaMDX,

Thanks for the info. I used both the Sales and General Information e-mail addresses. I've found that often a company is more eager to sell a product than to support a product. Ease of doing business with is high on my list when I do business with someone. One of my pet peeves are companies who post e-mail contact addresses as a method of communicating with the business, but don't actually have anyone reading the mail.

I'm reluctant to spend much time convincing a company they sould sell me something, whereas if I had received a defective product, I would go to extra lengths to resolve the issue, and on occasion when I have encountered apathetic middle management, I have contacted the president or other appropriate executive office.

The advice you posted is useful for dealing with any business.

MDX_Omaha,

I guess it comes down to how much you want the Manik steps. I really like mine. But if you don't mind going with another, then I would recommend doing that.

I like the looks of the Maniks and that they can be adjusted outward a bit from the car.

I think I'll just wait a while until their fulfillment issues are resolved, and who knows, maybe there'll be some more choices on the market after a while.

Happy cruising.:D

The steps themselves are great, even though the company is a little flaky. They forgot to send my order; when I called them a week later, they said they were going out "tomorrow".

Now I've got to chase after them for a bolt/nut and a new footpad - I just noticed that my driver's side rear one has cracked around the screw. We'll see how they respond to this...

Ghost,

You're working directly with Manik on this? Can you let us know how it goes?

Thanks.

Hey Atlanta, I'm going to start with Frank with Nordleth first, hoping he can ship them from stuff he has in stock?

Did I recall you got your stripped bolt replaced? How did you do that?

Bought mine from Frank at Nordleth. Service was absolutely flawless. One of the step pads had a small crack and they send me TWO, 2nd day delivery. I highly recommend them.

Actually it was very easy. I went to the web site and sent e-mail to the addresses listed there. I sent one to Sales and Support on the Contact page. I got responses from both. The first person was clueless. The second was not. I got my replacement bolts in a few days. It was actually a very good experience.
