Anyone experiencing an overabundance of dust showing up on their interior dash, especially the high gloss simulated wood? I have the Taupe interior, so the wood grain is essentially black, which I know shows everything, but man....:1pat:

I also noticed the wood grain shows scratches rather easily - the superficial ones from general cleaning. Any recommendations on maintaining the high-gloss finish to hide these?

I have the dust issue as well. It is most noticable on the climate control display.

So far I only have one noticible stratch on the wood (actually plastic) by the cup holders and I am not sure it was from cleaning, but instead my wifes bag.

Yeah I'm noticing a lot of dust and superficial scratches ... also on the radio screen as well.

Yes, lots of dust. No scratches yet.

Have you used Zaino on the faux wood?

Did YOU condition and clean your dash and associated parts or rely on someone else and you have no clue what they used?

I use my "California dust buster" once a month and keep it conditioned well with Lexol.....:1:

I haven't tried Zaino yet - will that do the trick on interior finishes like it does on the exterior?

So far I haven't touched the faux wood from a cleaning perspective, other than my hands wiping away dust particles. I actually saw the swirls on the faux wood the day I picked up my car, so I suspect they originated with the dealers' original delivery prep.

They are only noticeable in a direct light source, due to the high-gloss nature of the faux, but I figured if I could nip it in the bud, I'd be better off.

I do have a more pronounced scratch across the middle console immediately in front of the shift know. I think I may have caused that one when I dragged a vacuum hose across the front seats at a car wash a few weeks back. That series of closely spaced scratches is certainly more pronounced than the superficial ones on the dash.

If Zaino will do the trick, I'll look into that for a fix. Thanks.

Well remember I took mine home interior wise completely plastic wrapped per my request. The exterior panel sheets were still intact as well......So I've applied "Z" from the "get go".....I would never use your hand or finger to "wipe" dust off the faux wood or the plastic cover over the radio head (as that one really will scratch easy) without prior application of Z or another brand.....

I use Zaino "Grand Finale" on glass, faux wood, real wood finishes, chrome pieces, Lexol dash board conditioner and Lexol leather conditioner about once a month. Once you start this "GOOD" habit you'll notice less and do less to maintain it......

dust yes, major scratches up front no. However, we do not use the 3rd row and have them down. Those cupholders in for the 3rd row in the rear have a few scratches and color discoloration from objects in the back. Bad idea to put those there.

Yes, I see the dust on the dash and wood trim. Every other week along with car wash, I have to clean the interior too.

This happens on my 530i more as interior is black and has same kind of wood trim. Ofcourse, X got the same kind of european design inside. The 3 buttons on 5 series line up, X has them in triange placement. 530i has same kind of trim, coin holder design, etc!
